I don't have any issues with lights--in fact, no sensoty issues whatsoever.

I have a problem with halogen lighting and bright light in general, I find dairy stuff makes it worse if consumed. I have toyed with the idea of tinted lenses or lightwave stimulation therapy, but both are costly.

I can't handle light at all -- especially sunlight and fluorescent lighting. Strobe lights and bright flashing colors on the TV drive me nuts, as do car headlights. Light hurts.

Bright lights or fluorescent lights are not an issue with me with one exception. If it is daylight with a clear sky during the winter and there is a layer of bright shiny snow on the ground then it will be hard on my eyes.

I feel bad or nervous in one room in my university, it doesn’t have any windows. I think it might be the lighting. Few hours in that room and I leave the house depressed, weak and without energy.

I am really sensitive to fluorescent lights. I didn't realize just how bad it was until I started college, since most of the classrooms in my university have very bright fluorescent lights and how no windows. I headaches and begin to feel groggy sitting under them. I recently got my mildly prescribed reading glasses tinted and have been wearing them in class even though I don't need them. It's been very helpful.

It only cost me $15 to get my lenses tinted, and it's been well worth it. I don't know if you already have glasses or would buy them to tint, but I imagine if you bought cheap reading glasses it wouldn't be too expensive.

I am very sensitive to sunlight, I get instant headaches when outside without my sunglasses. (I also seem to get instantly hot in bright lights)

Indoor lights do not bother me as much, but the light has to be generalized, meaning I can't stare at a glowing tv in a dark room, I have to have backlighting of some sort to even out the light levels.

The lights at stores are awful. And it's worse when they have music on as well, combined with crowds and voices. Sunlight is a little more tolerable. But that's only if it isn't making a 'pattern' of lights and shadows alternating (like shadows of trees, fences, etc. I don't know if I just don't like it, if it's because I also have epilepsy, or because of Asperger's but lights give me a headache.

But fluorescent lights, no way. They don't make me sick to my stomach like they used to, but I still consider them headache-inducing and an affront to good taste.

I agree.

Oddly, fluorescent lighting sometimes has the opposite effect on me than it does on many others: instead of the fake bright light keeping me awake it sometimes makes me groggy and disoriented. I often feel more alert in dim light, much more alert. Maybe my ancestors spent a lot of time concentrating in the dark or something.. ha!

Are you overstimulated and becoming tired from that?

This phenominum is called scotopic sensitivity. I'm told it's a form of dyslexia, I suppose because it also effects reading ability. My son has had these issues too. Also issues with depth perception, tracking convergance and tripping. Irlens lenses and fish oil are the answers. The lenses even make you less sensitive (gradually)

I'm wondering if anyone else here who's aspie is hyper senstaive to light... Like Direct Sunlight, my family goes out on the boat and they all don't mind but I can't see at all when I am out on the deck. Another thing is the bright lighting at walmart gives me head-ache's

Anyone else have this happen to them ?

I am light sensitive as well. Outdoor and car lights bother me...headaches.
Indoor lights I only like bright when cooking.

Yeah, I hate sunlight to the point of prefering incandescent lighting. I think if I had a choice, my future home would have little to no windows, and would be lite all day by incandescent bulbs, until I had to sleep of course. Then I'd want it to be pitch black.
