Neurotypical or NT is not a bad term, though some people do use it in a derogatory manner.

It's not all NTs. It's just the stupid ones who don't understand. They have limited intelligence with which to understand the difference in the first place.

My husband is an NT. His IQ is 135. He figured me out pretty early on. He sees me as a very intelligent person who just needs taking care of.

I have a few associates who are NTs who know something is different about me, but they've seen my work and they make allowances for my differences.

It's not all NTs. Just the jerks, and they should be avoided whether one is an Aspie or not.

I don’t think NT is offensive, just like when I use AS do compare differences. Differences are not bad things, they are just different things. What if I said neuro-atypical? NAT? It’s just NTs are more prevalent, the majority. Is the word minority offensive? Nope.

As far as NT ranting and bashing, I find this is a fine place to do it. I have read a lot of frustrations and bashings about NTs, but realize I am not one of the rude ones and actually happy to not be a typical NT. Hmm, Atypicalneurotypcial? ANT?

Geez, all these bug acronyms…

I have found a lot of help and insight here, and would never want WP censored. So, you can bash NTs all you want, I am not offended. I realize you bash the NTs who have made life miserable. And you should bash anyone who makes life miserable. It’s called venting…

I think NT-bashing is stupid. Personally I find a lot of what is often called "Identity Politics" (minorities using their minority status to bash and belittle others) to be stupid. I may be an Aspie, but I am also a human, a Westerner, an American, and a secular humanist as well. Objectively, there is more that unities us as a common humanity then that separates us.

I don't like political correctness, and I don't have a problem with using the term "NT" as an easy way to describe "people who don't have anywhere near the amount of issues that I have". BUT. I definitely have noticed a lot of people on here using the term in a way that sounds very derogatory and condescending.

Almost like... here, let me explain it like this:

You know those white people who have a "dash" or racism in them? But they don't like to be all "out" about it? They all seem to say "black people" with this weird tone in their voice that's just screaming some kind of bad feelings or discrimination toward them.

I see a lot of people on here who seem to be almost discriminatory toward neurotypicals. I see a lot of hypocrisy.

Black people are black people, blondes are blondes, short are short, tall are tall. Physical is what you see. Brains are hidden. Toxic people are toxic people regardless of NT or AS. Stay away from toxic. Put up with what you have to at work. We all do. To me, a paycheck is what funds my real life, so I put up and shut up. All with a fake perky smile. And make sure you make your real life all you want. Never do what you don't want to do and never pass up what you do want to do!

Group collectivism in the traditional sense is idiotic because the actual differences between most groups are quite small naturally. But being able to judge a culture is the heart of a critical and moral animal; it is a piece of modern collectivist herd-morality that one ought to avoid this.

Since NT and AS are distinctions which are, however, not arbitrary, the rules resemble more closely the second case than the first case. Neurological characteristics give rise to personality, moral, structural differences, which then enter into the realm of the judgeable. Treating people on an individual basis is proper; but telling people that using NT in a bad way is wrong relies on the empirical claim that the group characteristics of NT's do not correspond to things which they view as negative.

This obviously excludes using NT as a gloss term for "everyone who satisfies everything I hate about humanity". There are plenty of other excellent terms that one can use for this, like "herd", "masses", and "dirty apes".

The objection by non-autistics to NT that makes sense to me is although they are not on the autistic spectrum, many are far from neurotypical. My mate has suffered from being psychic all his life and that is not something he could get help with. It is not Neurotypical, yet he is certainly not autistic in any sense. Many supposed mental illnesses are now shown to have provable neurological differences and it would be wrong to call them neurotypical. Is sociotypical a possibility?
