fingers and thumbs very much so.

My top thumb joint bends through 90' forward and 90' backwards.

mee too. I can bend my fingers backward and have "hitchhiker" thumbs. My fingers are disproportionately thin and long too.

My old school-friends used to say "ET-fingers" when referring to my hands.

I read somewhere that there seems to be a lot of people on the spectrum who are also double-jointed.

So, are you?

I am. Every single joint. And as a result, I'm 23 and have bursitis in my knees. Of course, the 7 years of marching band probably didn't help . . .

There's a syndrome called Benign Hypermobile Joint Syndrome. It runs rampant in my family tree but it seems to be concentrated in branches where we have people on the spectrum.

I am only double-jointed in some joints: elbows and thumb (knuckles).

For awhile I didn't know I was double-jointed in my elbows till I held out my arms and some friends were like "oh my god that's so gross" and I was like "What?" I was about 14.

I would be curious to find out why sometimes double-jointedness (HJS) is universal and hits many joints and then in some, like myself, it only affects a few.

Can you possibly imagine how long I just laughed at the picture of this inside my head?

I can also bend my thumbs at 90 degrees across my palms then curl my fingers over them, so the end of my thumb sticks out past the edge of my hand. Apparently that's not 'normal', either.

Wait, that's not normal?!? I can do that! lol

I can bend my thumb down against the inside of my wrist too, bend the first joints of my fingers down (by themselves), and bend my fingers backwards really far. Supposedly bending your fingers back 90 degrees means you're hypermobile; I can bend my index fingers back almost to 45 degrees. I can also bend all my fingers the wrong way a little bit, without pushing them.
