anything made from a Midi
elevator music
dramatic/romantic/emotional movie scores (aka musical cues)

There are individual songs I don't like but I don't think there are whole "genres" that I hate or go cuckoo from. The above is more of a grating noise and "why?" type of irritation. Like why would anyone waste their talents on Muzak? It just doesn't make sense. Years ago we had radio stations that played "easy listening" and it was muzak. Nowadays, "easy listening" is soft vocals and soft jazz. much different.

I can't stand Country & Western, R&B, modern hip-hop (80s and early 90s is fine), emo, death metal or punk. Also, some classical music drives me to distraction, particularly music such as Pomp and Circumstance. Death metal has always been most problematic for me, since my sisters and Mum all love it, so I have to put up with it constantly! :(

I actually don't know what emo music is. I'm afraid to ask - but here goes - got an example?

It's repetitive cheerful sounds
are annoying me round and round
and the feed the world most of all...;)

sorry, little ditty that's been going around in my head. If I hate something enough, I'll start making alternate lyrics for it...)

Rap and Country (it's all the family listens to)
Opera and show tunes (Stop that Singing! - Monty Python and the Holy Grail..;)

Screamo, heavy metal, country, and overly emotional songs that are almost pretty.

I LOATHE

RAP
CHEAP REMAKES INTO RAP (eg Akon)
Top 40s
I started liking Fall Out Boy but they fumbled horribly in the screamo's in their album
Holiday songs except John Lennon's War is Over
Mariachi--too repetitive and chaotic
Brain rotters of the Disney channel
Any metal--I tried hard to get into it but oh well
Only rap I like is Weird Al
"Lite Rock" generally sucks
Supermarket smash hits!! !! !! !! !!
Elevator stuff
Most country, but tolerable where I work at the CB (Cracker Barrel)

Last but not least, a message to artists and NTs everywere:

KKKKKKKIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL SOLDIER BOY!! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !

Me too. About ten years ago I began making things easier for getting through the holidays, back when I answered to the name Bipolar:

Much of the so called 'modern rock' is so horrible I cant stand to listen to it anymore and really miss the rick of the 90's.

Stuff by My Chemical Romance is a good example. Basically, it's a genre of rock that has its roots in punk rock, which often focuses on lyrics that describe feelings of typical "teenage angst". IMO it often sounds quite whiny, and the songs themselves are far too pop-ish and unmelodious for my tastes.
