Never. I'm far more likely to spring to the Aspie's defence than support the put downs and so forth.

I was fascinated by autistics and so as a child (up til high school, obviously), my fascination usually expressed itself in making fun (although never bullying/to their face). Once I grew up a little and was dxed Aspie I stopped (although I still can't help but laugh sometimes at the "extreme" Aspies, such as the "duck and runners" in the hallways).

I don't believe I've ever sided with bullies. I criticize people, but I don't do it in a way to intentionally hurt them. I'm just very vocal about my opinions at times. To this day I piss off plenty of "friends" because I refuse to talk about someone.

For example, a dialogue:

Person: Have you heard what so-and-so did?

Myself: No, and I really don't care.

Person: Well, so-and-so said something about you? Aren't you going to defend yourself?

Myself: Well, I would question their reasoning. I might find it stupid if in fact they are, but no. Why should I care?

I was bullied in school so I could never sympathize with bullies. Even if their life was on the line, I would still look down on them. The same can be said for people who maliciously insult a person. Joking is fine until a person is made to feel horrible because of it.

Yeah, many times over, but it's how I really feel, so I'm not just "trying to fit in with NTs". Technically the couple kids I can think of that I like to bug aren't Aspies but more severely autistic/low-functioning. One of them ended up leaving but I've certainly never given a kind word to someone already that hated.

One thing I never understood is why so many people (at least one, I know) tell me that I "make them look bad." It's not like Asperger's Syndrome is an organization or a cult. It's also a fallacy (called the Fallacy of Hasty Generalization).

On this subject, teasing someone weaker or lower in status than you involves something called "schadenfreude," which means delight in the suffering of another with no desire to remedy it. I really find it quite disgusting, especially when the teaser is near the bottom of the social ladder with the victim. (I say "bottom of the social ladder" but there are often many coexisting social ladders.)

I find schadenfreude to be so absurd and perplexing an aspect of the human personality that it's one of the top of the list of things I would seek to eliminate from our species' way of thinking.

A clarification;

The question of this thread is "Ever made fun of a more severe aspie to fit in with NT's?"

Now please read my answer again - in context - and you'll all see just how much a fool the immediate previous poster just made of himself (along with persisting with a line of slander without solid evidence).

The only aspies you don't have issue with, are those that don't laugh at you saying silly things.

AGAIN - You slander 14 yr old aspie girls and you a bitter opinionated, self-righteous, nasty, poisonous arrogant excuse of a man. You don't need to clarify a thing.

i am probably the last person an NT would run to in order to make fun of anyone, Aspie or not. :-p

except Bob at work. Bob makes a number of women exteremely uncomfortable, and working with Bob from 9pm at night to 7am in the morning, with him being the only other human -locked in the store with me - - well. If the managers won't listen, at least I'm not on shift with him. i literally have concern for my physical/mental health with that guy.

aside? i'm the person that gets teased or ignored.

I dont remember being cruel to anyone at school to get ahead, because I was never trying to get anywhere socially at school. I sort of acted like a clown in High School in order to amuse NTs- it was one way I realised I could connect.
But I wasnt climbing a social ladder, just trying to have fun with the people around me.

But I was never interested in cruelty or bullying because it had happened to me.. I was bullied from age 11- 16 and I knew what it felt like to fear walking home from school, or to be ridiculed, ignored, rejected and friendless.

In a weird sort of way im a little bit glad I had the experience of being a misfit at school because it has taught me much compassion.

I've made fun of one person to appear "humorous" to those around me; I hate myself to this day.

Irony laughed at me, and I don't blame it.

I'm proud to say that I have never joined in on any bullying. I have been dumb enough to stand up to a room full of guys using someone weaker than them as their entertainment. When it somes to seeing someone bullied, I'm impulsive, and I can't ignore what's happening because of my own experience with bullying in elementary school. If someone decides to turn their head away or join in, I can't blame them. Technically, that is the smart thing to do. The bullies' attention will be directed someplace else, and said person might even make a few fake friends. I won't get all preachy because it sounds like those of you who did it the smart way in the past are still being affected by those actions to this day.

No, I have never participated in bullying but I have a hard time dealing with people who are visibly "different". It's like I am passing for normal and these people will blow my cover. Not something I am proud of but something I was conditioned to do in order to fit in.

I did however do something incredibly sh***y to a person who had never done anything bad to me; I was trying to fit in with a group and the opportunity came up to know what it is like to have the shoe on the other foot. I have never done it again because I decided I really didn't like hurting people and this person was devastated by it.

Never let anyone tell you that people bully because they lack confidence. That is BS. People bully because they are in a position of power and they know they can get away with it. They bully because they know that that there is no chance they will be mistaken for whatever category of person they are bullying. I have not once ever heard of a bully who was shunned because he or she was a bully. On the contrary, they are always surrounded by hangers-on. Society rewards bullying.
