From the "poor long-suffering families afflicted with a member who has Asperger's" site.

http://www.faaas.org/doc.php?29,202

The Cassandra phenomenon was created by a woman who may or may not have even been married to a man on the spectrum but who blamed all her problems on him. How CONVENIENT. No really. Marry an Aspie and everything, EVERYTHING that goes wrong in the marriage is his fault. That's the attitude of a whole slew of women out there on the web in "support" groups, they are angels, pure angels and they suffer sooooooooo.

But not silently, they make sure everyone knows how they suffffffer.

And I see Attwood as someone who will or would hold their hands and say, "there there, baby, those Aspie men are just heartless, you are so right."

Yes I did  really love to see his response.

I do know a few people who have seen him, can not say who, but they have told me he really helped them.

No one can always get everything right and feel he is growing and learning like the rest of us, as there has been so many changes just over the last few years even...

We are not always the only ones to suffer, being diagnosed has really helped my husband understand me..

B: "An emergency! Oh my god" *hyperventilates and starts rocking*
C: "Oh uh what? Did someone say something?"
D: "Why are we rolling? Isn't the plane faster?"
E: *walks to the fridge for a snack*

I didn't mean to imply spouses of spectrum people are never hurt by spectrum people, it's just that there is a noisy group of women who seem like sociopaths to me. They marry a guy and then blame him for every single problem they have. Like I said, it's very convenient.

These women do the asking, most of the time, they pick the guy out, ask him to marry her and then assume the martyr's stance from then on. I've seen it. And at one point, it looked to me like Attwood was giving these awful whining women "aid and comfort" while not repeating what he said to the women to the AS community. It looked very two faced, to me.

I also noted that this was a few years ago, maybe Attwood has decided not to have two stories about what AS people are like, one for the Aspies, "You guys are great!" and one for the wives, "Oh, my, they can really be AWFUL, it's true."

autism_divaI do know what your talking about, some people are never happy - picture what life should be like, but not prepared to work to make it happen...

Maybe its Tony's only way and keeping them quite!

and don't forget the superpowers.......

Mr Remember_Every_Frickin_Thing - Long term memory power and recitation in excruciating detail

Ms Baddies_As_A_Special_Interest - There's nothing he doesn't know about baddies, but ask about anything else... (sigh).

Ms Out_With_It - Doesn't beat about the bush but extracts confessions by simply asking them if they're the baddies or not. Sometimes offends them to death.

Mr SlightlyOCD - Has the most amazing collection of vehicles and weapons - all arranged in order and grouped by color.

Mr I_Dont_Get_it - never gets jokes or social references... the Joker and the Riddler can't touch him

Ms Antisocial - Has the most secret identity of them all because she stays home and hides in the cupboard all day.

Doesn't Tony Attwood want to cure us?

If you listen to the radio interview, he is saying that we should be encouraged (as the geniuses that we are :D), rather than be picked on for our quirks.

Plus, he would like to see a world where we are not subject to sensory onslaughts all of the time.

Interview link is at the bottom of the page:

i like that idea

To the original post, he isn't our Prof X, since he was one of the mutants himself.
