For me, I cannot stand vegetables almost all forms (if for example, some lettuce is in my hamburger, I'd experience a gag reflect, and feel like I'll vomit). Because of this, my primary source of food is in the meat food group (even with meat, I tend to prefer it "plain", so nothing else on it, as "mixing" foods tends to also produce this gag reflex). Pizza was and still is my favorite food, and in high school, I would eat it every day for lunch when I got home. Interestingly, I'm not fat either, and I was in fact under weight in high school (now that I've graduated college, I'm finally within the normal weight range for my age). I personally did not consider this too strange until I started eating lunch with my coworkers, and they quickly noticed this fact (and ridiculed it)(although, before I started working, I never really ate lunch with anyone, so no one would have really noticed I suppose). Anyone else like this or have similar experiences?

Ohhh God, me and you are very similar. As a kid I often would not eat at all, and was extremly selective about food, often having to be forced by mom and dad to eat. As a result I did not develop right I think and so as an adult I am very underweight, I am healthy and active, just look like I am in bad shape, I certainly am not.

I am far better now then ever, but still, food mixing on the plate or anything mushy and thats a gag fest. And yes, at work I am made fun of for me weird eating habbits as well.

I cant stand fat on meat. This also includes chicken skin that hasnt been roasted till its like paper thickness. I just cant stand it. I used to cut every single line of fat of my meat. Ive worked on getting better at it but the fatty edge some meats have I cannot eat and have to cut it off. Pretty much Ill gag if I try to eat it. If I force it Ill probably projectile vomit everywhere :P Also I cannot really eat mashed potatoes on its own. After a couple mouth fulls Ill start reaching trying to throw it up. Plus Im really fussy. Wont eat fruit with any marks on it, wont eat fruit unless its fresh. A lot of vegetables I dont like the taste of. Lastly anything soggy- things like cereal, bread thats got soggy, some desserts, etc. Again the texture makes me gag.

As a kid, I wouldn't feel comfortable eating something anywhere but at home. I was afraid of getting sick in a time or place where it would be very inconvenient to feel sick.

I'm completely similar to you two!! !

I was also underweight as a child, but now I'm slightly overweight because I became addicted to chocolate and Coca-Cola, and my grandma used to give me sugar blocks and guava paste (a colombian candy) in order to give me some nutrition.

As a child I had weak jaws (I still have a little) and there was a time when I would only eat liquid things and soups, and I had to go back to the feeding bottle. It took me a long time to learn to like meat, chicken, food that wasn't sweet in general, and chocolate, to which now I'm addicted.

Now I still have a lot more tolerance for sweet foods than most people, and lower tolerance of salty, acid and spicy foods.

Well, the first thing people have found strange is the fact that I hate ketchup. Always have. The texture, first of all, and the vinegar in it-- I HATE vinegar in anything.
I don't like mayonnaise or mustard, either. Ordering sandwiches from fast food places has always been a pain, because they never seem to understand that I want JUST the meat and cheese ONLY-- just scraping it off does not help, because I can still taste the disgusting pickle and mayonnaise etc left behind.

Actually, I would probably be considered eating disordered. With me, it's either one extreme or the other-- either I heavily restrict my intake, or I binge.

Anyway, some other habits--
I prefer to eat things in coffee mugs, (instant rice especially, with cheese and hot sauce and soy sauce).
Certain foods have specific way to be eaten. Bread, for instance (when I could still eat it). I first eat the crust off, slowly. Then I tear the bread into small pieces. Then I roll each piece into a tiny ball, and eat them one by one -- sometimes dipping them into hot sauce or something. I put hot sauce on just about everything.

I prefer to eat meat with maple syrup. I like savory+sweet combinations, it just tastes better to me. Like a sandwich I used to make all the time which involved ham, bacon, strawberry jelly, butter and brown sugar, all on hawaiian or potato bread. I highly recommend it.

When I was younger, I often used a medicine dropper to drink things. I would still do this if we had a medicine dropper around..
although sometimes I drink things in bowls. Not like.. a dog, or anything, but with a spoon, as if I were eating soup.

I'm extremely paranoid about food going bad, expiration dates etc. I annoy my mom with this a lot by practically interrogating her about the state of something in the fridge or wherever-- worrying that it's poisoned or will make me ill just by tasting it, and so on.
