I think the problem with someone who lies about something they do, and it is subjective, as 'effort' always is, it's very difficult to prove. Therein lies the problem. You can't prove they aren't putting in enough effort. What you could do is complain to their superior and hope something is done about their poor performance.

And aggression in any form is always seen as unacceptable in the workplace. So anyone who does it is seen as bad whatever the reason.

I actually have just been dismissed from my job because of this very problem. I found out that my line manager had given a fellow colleague (his mate) credit for work he did in an appraisal but didn't give it to me. This was a career affecting appraisal because it was related to leadership experience. I confronted him over this and called him an a***hole and told him I no longer respected him or trusted him. Because of this I was sacked. Even though he obviously left out stuff on my appraisal on purpose I couldn't prove this, because he said it was 'an accident'. Where as I (stupidly) admitted using abusive language (one swear word) which is gross misconduct. So I got sacked and will probably struggle to get a job as my dismissal was for threatening and intimidating behaviour.

Coincidentally he is a very NT personality and popular, where as I am generally dislliked at work. This is despite the fact that he seems to be an egomaniac and morally bankrupt. He'd recently admitted that he could never be faithful in a relationship and that cheating wasn't bad unless someone found out. Yep a real Mr.Nice Guy.
