Socks & Feet
Now any time I buy a package of them it seems like almost all of the socks are made to fit the left foot. I would buy a package of socks and out of sixteen socks, about 13 would seem to be made for the left foot.
Have you tried running socks? The socks are marked l for left and r for right foot. I have no idea why this is.
I used to walk around barefoot; but as we have dogs, I would sometimes step in something.
I know if I haven't put my socks on properly, I have problems with the seams in them and they're very uncomfortable.
I always wear socks, as my feet are quite sensitive (and ticklish!). I only wear the ankle-high variety, as I can't stand the feeling of them around my legs. I only wear shoes if I have to go outside.

I didn't like wearing socks when I was in elementary school. My mother would force me to wear it then at school, I'd take them off and stuff them into my backpack. I do now, but I'm still kinda picky. It takes me a while to get used to wearing a new pair of sock, and when I do get used to them, I can't wear any other pair of sock (unless they're like, identical). I really wish my mother would stop getting different varieties of socks and just stick to one kind.
I remember her asking me why I wasn't wearing the new socks she bought for me.
Her: Why aren't you wearing these socks? You've been wearing the same pair for weeks!
Me: Because they're not comfortable. They irritate me, especially around the ankles.
Her: -tries them on for herself- I don't see anything wrong with them.
Me: Well, yeah, I do! They're uncomfortable!
Her: -gives me a weird look, shakes her head, and walks away-
I like wearing socks. Although they have to be comfortable. I don't buy those cheap cotton socks with 6 pairs in a bag. Haven't found any of those that didn't irritate me, plus they kinda look dumb. Nowadays most of my socks are colorful, patterned wool blend socks. I have some fleece socks for home wearing in winter. They're all very soft and stretchy. I actually found the best wool socks in my local supermarket. They beat even my Smartwool socks in comfort. Although they do tend to wear out easily compared to Smartwool. For their price that's not a big issue.
I also buy nicer socks that are soft and thin for my kids. I'm a bit worried that as they grow bigger I wouldn't be able to find nice socks for boys. Oh well there are always plain solid colored ladies socks that are comfy.
If you can't stand wool, there's also an option of rayon bamboo socks now. They're very soft and comfy compared to regular cotton socks.

Oh god. When I was in elementary school I remember having this huge meltdown in the morning before school one day. I kept complaining that my socks didn't feel good and my grandparents didn't understand why I was so upset. I turned my socks inside out for years after that. These days socks still bother me but mostly just with shoes. I wear the same pair of combat type boots almost every day, and thin ankle high socks. I won't wear any other type of socks now. The toe seams bother me a lot.

I LOVE socks. This might have to do with the fact that I HATE feet; I think they are gross! I also don't like the feel of most surfaces on my bare feet, especially the type of carpet in my house. I wear socks at all times. However, I only wear shoes if I have to, and I only wear on style of shoe.

I'm new to the idea of possibly having AS and I didn't really consider this a sensory issue before...
I hate shoes, socks, slippers, nylons, everything. If I have to wear close-toed shoes and socks on a lab day at school it just ruins my entire day and it's the only thing I think about when I'm not concentrating on anything in specific. I'm not really sure if I'm hypo- or hyper-sensitive about it, though. I live in Vegas and can walk down to the mailbox barefoot when the sidewalk's over 200 F (and I used to walk barefoot in snow all the time when I lived further east). On the flip side, walking on rugs or carpet or having blankets made out of certain fabrics drives me up the wall. I wish we had tile in every room of our house...

Then for a period of time, I would wear socks inside-out to avoid having the seam touch my toes.
I eventually found a kind of socks whose seams are more flat and much less noticeable, and I fold the sock down on the inside so it's only covering my ankle and not sitting further up on my leg.
Now any time I buy a package of them it seems like almost all of the socks are made to fit the left foot. I would buy a package of socks and out of sixteen socks, about 13 would seem to be made for the left foot.
This is unbearable. Within the past year I have bought many packages of socks and then given almost all of them to charity because almost all of the socks in the package seemed like they were made to only fit the left foot. Putting them on my right foot leaves a little pointy part sticking out near my baby toes and I hate it SO much.
I posted before I read this. This is how it is for me.
