Argh! I hate freudians! I am into neuro science which is how I stumbled across Simon Baron-Cohens Autism Quotient test. Almost every day I find somewhere where freud was wrong. Check out Ramachandran on youtube on freud. Rama is like one of the worlds experts in neuroscience.

Freudians don't know what "evidence" really is. I think they misunderstand what science is. Akin to a PostStructuralist trying to make sense of Maths. I like both things, but they don't mix. Freudians don't mix with Psychology! (although Freud was VERY interesting philosophically)

Dr. Ron Miller, a respected Fargo pediatrician who specializes with kids and teens with pervasive developmental disorders, ADHD, and learning disabilities like dyslexia; and an all-around great guy. He diagnosed me in 2002, when I was 16. He was my GP doc from when I was 15 to when I turned 21.

He suspected I had AS when we first met in 2001, but he didn't officially diagnose me then because he thought it also could have been Non-Verbal Learning Disorder. When I was 16 I was given a battery of tests and evaluations (including an IQ test) by a psychologist Dr. Miller recommended to my parents and I and that is what led to my official Dx with Asperger's, Social Anxiety Disorder, and OCD.

Dr. Rama is awesome. I recommend his book The Phantom in the Brain, an excellent book on his neuroscience research and his experiences with patients. His stuff on hemispatial neglect is fascinating and thought provoking.

I went to my family doctor, who I've seen for the first time today. I only go to specialists, like for my allergies.
I went in, and it only lasted twenty minutes. He tried to give me Zoloft, and refered me to a 'councler'. I've already talked to my school councler. At age 14, he said it would be rare for them to miss Aspergers until this age. I don't talk to my parents about anything, and I live with my dad. HE has Aspergers, and was diagnosed when I was ten. -_-
Though, he didn't even let me talk, and only listened to my mother...who I havn't seen since I was ten. I'd like to talk to a doctor who will actually listen.
What type of doctor diagnosed you?

Neurologist... back when i was 7

When in doubt, ask an autistic. Chances are, they're obsessed with what you need to know.

I don't have a diagnosis as of this point, but I'm seeing a neuropsychologist who thinks I have AS. I'm testing on the 28th. My son was diagnosed HFA by a neurologist.

I'll give some names:

Dr. Peter Field, a psychiatrist; he always saw me as Asperger's, but acknowledges that with my developmental history (<3 years I had clear symptoms), my severe social impairment (aloofness rather than "odd"), and my fixation on parts of objects throughout the years, I am autistic to him, albeit as high-functioning as one can get. Chermside, Brisbane.

Julie Fox, a clinical psychologist [who specializes in Asperger's in females] gave me the Asperger's label within 30 minutes at Minds & Hearts ASD clinic in West End, Brisbane.

A counselor, not a doctor. Had previous experience in assessing Asperger's Syndrome.
