I think Dyspraxia/Apraxia is the cause of this and is a common trait amongst Aspies though not all of them. I cant swim, hold my pencil funny, was 11 before i learned to tie my shoelaces and was told by my classmates i done it the kiddy way (still do), i cant tie a tie, not good at space awareness and my balance isnt great so i rely on my stiff posture to keep me straight. I am still half decent at some sports involving mostly use of hands but havent the quickest feet.

My parents gave up trying to teach me to tie shoelaces, and in the end it was a friend of theirs up the road who had the patience to explain it enough times that I finally got it. I still can't tie knots and now almost exlcusively use velcro fastened footwear...

Pens were and are a nightmare. I grip so hard that my hands go numb after a short time and it becomes physically painful to write. I had a lot of physical trouble taking notes or writing essays at school and university because of this, and most of what was written by hand starts off with incredibly neatly and slowly drawn characters, but then degenerates in to (really) unreadable scrawl as I run out of time and my finger muscles go numb. Being able to type has been an incredible release.

I also have the same trouble with cutlery. My partner says he has never seen anyone hold a knife and fork the way I do. He tried to show me a different way (which apparently would be less error prone...), but I couldn't really follow it.

Driving. I space out and run red lights and stop signs, so it is better for me and everyone else that I just don't do it.

LOL me too! Just try explaining to someone that you are actually a really good driver, you just don't always see traffic lights, cars and pedestrians!

I still write like a two year old. My students make fun of my handwriting all the time. I also have a hard time catching balls thrown to me, and I still run with an awkward gaite.

Oh boy, where do I start... actually, learning to ride a bike wasn't a big deal for me and I rather went on long bike journeys when I was younger.

Learning to drive was hell to me but for what I've seen I now have more skills on the road than what I see on many NTs, mind you.

But other than that, I've always been bound to suck on any skill that demands high motor coordination (sports, musical instruments, etc). My hand tends to hurt if I have to write something longer than a few lines by hand. How did I get a degree on Design with these limitations, I don't know (and I can draw!)... I guess desire to do the arts thing was stronger than anything else :D

And of course there are the psycological disabilities - on flirting, bargaining, making sales and all that. Those are the ones I could truly live without. :?
