yes dear, but i'm on the boat with pithlet. and i am always making mistakes. (however, many of my 'mistakes' are intentional and i do mean something by them.)

that particular location drove me to distraction, because i thought you were playing with the idea of your LOCATION being HERE.

Where? Here!

i wasn't being a grammer nazi, i was letting you know what i SAW. SEE?

Location: HERE.

WHERE?

My dictionary gives 7 examples of phrases containing prepositions;
3 of them finish with the preposition :?
Every time I try and tackle grammar
I wish there was a dictionary that was organised grammatically
i.e. all the adverbs listed by themselves, all the nouns etc.

So you do not mean they need to READ a dictionary then, but to use one like a spell-checker and look individual words up.

Spellcheckers are good, except the one on Microsoft Publisher.

the worst one to remember is effect and affect... once you think you know when to use them you come across an exception. I'll mix up words if I'm writing fast or not paying attention (like I sometime use the wrong there, their, or they're) but I know perfectly well when to use each one. I also sometimes get carried away with my o's on the word to and use too, but that more a typo than grammar error (I never spell grammar correctly either, I always want to spell it grammer). I've got to be tired, because I could talk insesantly about anything right now... like right now I really want to ramble about how irritating the fan in the heater in my dorm room is because it squeaks like a cold car engine does... and it just came on and is squeaking right now and I want to kick it, which actually does make it stop but only for a few seconds... so I told myself I wouls only mention the heater but, no I'm rambling. So I'm going to stop now.

I try to use proper grammar, if the rules make sense to me. And not in 'traditional' follow all the rules make sense... I mean in a larger if I believe the rules to be useful and relevant to conveying ideas.

For example, I use there, their they're properly... same thing with your and you're... or at least I try to.

But its and it's...I forget which one to use all the time... and I really think the official grammar rule is pointless. I use it's to show possessive all the time... really it makes sense that way... why not use it? I think I use it's as the contraction too... it maybe a tad confusing... oh well. It's really no problem for it's... is it... it isn't.

As for many other grammar rules, I apply the same thought process... english language is just a tool to convey ideas. If I think my ideas aren't being served by 'proper' grammar... I'll break the rules. No big deal really...

I don't often like conventional systems just because they are standard. I type in Dvorak, because I don't like Qwerty. I write music in piano roll notation, because I don't like standard notation. And so on...

As for spelling, I'm terrible yet try to spell to the best of my ability. I am forever grateful for browser spell checkers, and for the Mac's system wide spell checker...

I also sometimes confuse brought and bought when I'm not paying attention.
