Yeah, I've noticed something similar with aspie guys. Some aspie guys look very much the same. I noticed this with two aspie guys I know, around the eyes and face, they just look familiar, and then I saw a picture of Strapples, and he has the same look. It's almost like from looking atthe face you might think they are related.

Edit: I just went to look at the other posts, and you guy noticed the eyes thing too!! !

I've noticed that a lot of female Aspies have the same rounded face and "innocent" look that I have.

I think that Aspies share the trait that we are very good looking overall. The ones I know are, and the other very good trait is looking younger than your actual years. That is envied by NTs.

Mine wakes me up with maniacal laughter. More interesting than an alarm clock.

Yes! I look very "innocent" and rounded. I'm always getting called "sweetie" and other little names by random people.like waiters, and stuff. "what would you like sweetie?" and older women and such.

I remember reading somewhere, someone else's theory, that aspergians have smoother faces for the simple reason that they don't use their facial muscles as much. The lines and grooves that show up an other people's faces from reacting to stimuli are simply not as deep, or just not there at all. It is what will make a 40 year old aspergian look 30. so the smooth roundness of the face is simply because we don't smile as deep. (there was a comment attached to the reading from a 40 year old complaining because he still gets carded and they really don't beleive him when he shows his id)

That makes sense. My face is only mildly expressive most of the time. I'm 25 and people ask me if I'm on homestudies while I'm at work. Or what highschool I go to or if I'm excited about summer vacation coming around. It's difficult enough getting people to take me seriously when they actually know my age.

I was told yesterday(a dayin which I had not slept in 30 hours) that I didnt look my age(35) by someone who was the same age. There must be some truth to it.

I always hated my round face (I try to camouflage it with hair). I've seen quite a few aspie chicks who totally rock it though, look absolutely adorable. I'm jealous. B****es.

The only thing that gets me with many of the photo threads are the people smiling whilst looking directly at, and facing the camera, I don't know how the hell they can do that.

Lack of facial expressions and eye contact are the only things you'll find common amongst those with ASDs (apart from Rett's, and a good portion of those with ASDs have big heads when they're born).

Whenever I get my picture taken, my family usually ends up telling me to look up at the camera. Nearly all pictures of me up until about age 19 have me looking down, and expressionless. After that is when family members started telling me where to look.

Sometimes I think I'm smiling at the camera when I'm really not.

scumsuckingdouchebag,

In many of my photos when little, I'm looking at the ground, but I'm smiling; my mother would say, 'smile,' you can see how that goes when I always look at the ground (without the command to look up and smile, I, of course would take the phrase literally and smile, not knowing that I was supposed to look up). Around high-school, I'd look at the camera, but I'd refuse to smile to people's commands, I still do refuse to do such. For some reason, post-puberty I turned defiant to the commands of people; I'll smile when I want to smile, for example.

I believe the latter defiance can manifest in those with Asperger's, but I don't think it's common.

As for personality assessments based on facial features, I agree also. I've always felt like I have this huge cache in my head full of faces and the personality traits that have been attached to them most often. I really think that because aspies may have a hard time assessing people in "normal" ways, we come up with very detailed and precise ways of doing it differently. I think we succeed.

wow nice insight, im adding it to my little aspie research :)

I also have a roundish "babyface". (I'm a guy).

I don't fully believe that we share common physical similarities due to a neurological condition however. I think it may be a case of looking to find similarities, then retroactively attributing them to AS. If you think something's there, you'll find it if you look hard enough. (Sort of like the ink blot test.)

On the other hand, I wouldn't be totally shocked to find that AS is indeed very hereditary, and we come from the same ancestry (from many years ago). That would explain the physical similarities.
