Funny you should happen to say that - I was just reading http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/ ... 010809.php which I found interesting because it seems to indicate that our brains actually have the ability to switch on and off certain genes. It also stated that the cellular regeneration in the hippocampus caused by ECT triggering a gene called Gadd45b is also triggered by new surroundings.

Next time you're 'in a very bad place' maybe you should just get a new apartment. :)
