A friend of mine who is studying psychology said that using a one-way mirror is all part of the process and is simply a way to observe them without making them feel self-conscious. But I still found it quite insulting.

I was diagnosed with HFA at the age of five. They've also used that one-way mirror, to observe me. I feel that I AS instead of HFA, though. I've thought of getting tested, but it would cost too much money.

I was fifteen when the school psychologist told me I didn't have it because I didn't hate people, and sixteen when the autism specialist told me that the school psychologist was an idiot.

I was diagnosised with severe Autism at 18 months. Because of the early intervention and a lot of hard work, I've been rediagnosised with Aspergers.

I wasn't told until I asked why I went to therapy with all these "weird" kids when I was so normal (so I thought :P), which was around 7 year olds.

Close enough to 32.

And if the work of Asperger had been in the place of Kanner, I am certain it would have been a lot sooner.

Yeah, I kinda wish they could have switched locations and Kanner could have been the obscure one.

I was diagnosed with HFA at 17. Right now I'm more Aspergers than HFA.

I was diagnosed with "autistic features" at around age three, or just before that. I don't remember being diagnosed, so I'm not certain as to exactly when people became suspicious and the diagnosis was made.
