Emo is a lifestyle that people choose to be part of. It has nothing to do with the autistic spectrum.

In my opinion, that's an absolutley crazy thought. Although, I have thought about trying to involve myself in the style to try to be considered normal.

The last thing I am at my school is emo. Actually, I'm considered to be very preppy, along with 85% of my school.

I predate emo by years...decades, I predate goth... We were just called 'weird'.

I think they were called "Beatniks"? spelling? way back, but that's probably before most people's time..

Also, between Asperger's and NT -- there is something called Nonverbal Learning Disability or Nonverbal Learning Disorder... NLD It is thought to be on the autistic spectrum also.. I wonder if alot of Goth people (Emos) could be on the spectrum? I've related to them from a distance, finding a kindof sense of commonality at times when near them.. but I try to stay away from what is the dark-side.. sometimes I'm drawn to it though.. Maybe Goth (or Emo) isn't as "dark" as I think it is.. It's not like they are all satan worshippers or anything..

I've had my moods to want to wear dark clothing, I love many types of music though.. I have related to some of the Goth/Emo music -- but am not into getting alot of piercings, etc.. plus, I'm allergic to silver (earrings in past get infected.. so I can't get anymore.. but had thought about it).
