So my thought is correct!! ! I guess if I went there and told them all about my social anxiety, my phobias, my picky eating, etc.--it was possible it got missed. I never brought up a lot of other things, not knowing it would mean anything...

i've said it before but:
they should make a autism spectrum dignonses a require ment when they first enter school. and should keep on doing a autism spectrum dignonses at the bigning of each year. that way it would cut the chances of them missing it by probbely 40%

they make eye tests a requirment, why not autism spectrem tests.

With that, why don't they just do mandatory testing overall for each child to see what thier abilities are and test for disabilities like ASD and other stuff. Just start off with it in early years, then if they seem fine, just check with them once a year or every few years to make sure and people who they suspect have something, they check on every year and diagnose them. I also say that they should start early on with telling kids that there are people out there who are different from many people, and instead of ridiculing their weirdness, they should be respected and treated with respect like any other person. As they get older, just explain in more detail about this and get them to understand that there are different kinds of people out there and you can't go on making fun of us. I worry about a certain group of kids at a certain elementry school who think its perfectly okay to make fun of people. And think that trees are trashcans. That's just mean, people. Trees are nice, they're our friends, not trashcans. -Power Girl

1996. After jumping between dx's my the doctor had only just recently read about AS. He saw my past and immediatly dx with AS before much talking began. I was a text book case

2007, although I had been seen by doctors/shrinks about being different form ~ 1984 onwards, but things ran out of steam in early 90s. I made several concerted efforts to figure things out each time swearing I'll never go to a doctor again after repeatedly having bad experiences. It was really hard because I wasn't coming from it knowing I had AS. I didn't realize how social inept I was. I was also trying to describe symptoms secondary to AS such as fatigue.

The problem I had was all the clues were there but there weren't yet collated in one document. record were poor because I was in various different countries as a child.

I was diagnosed with "autism" in 1969, not much available then, but I had really good parents who were willing to try pretty well anything, the doctors said my autism was a mild form
