I agree it is great, I might read some other of Puzos novels to see if theyre as good. I like how it shows Vito as bringing law and order and describes how he runs things.

Yeah, I felt the same way. I think I was attracted to the idea of someone creating their own order and justice and meaning in a world that often feels very disordered and unjust and meaningless.

It's quite Nietzschean in a way.

I also read 'Omerta' by Puzo, and I thought it was rubbish in comparison. But your mileage may vary.

I read on imdb years ago that they were going to make a 4th film about the death of the Andy Garcia godfather with a prequel section that had Deniro's Vito training the young Sonny who would be played by Leo DiCaprio. Shame it never happened.

Ah now, the book could be very different. They have to describe stuff in words rather than imply it with pictures, you don't have to recognise faces (all guidos look the same to me :( ) and you can take it at your own pace (youi can skip back with a DVD but you can't usually get slow motion without losing the sound). But I don't like reading books, or at least I don't like starting them.

Couldn't the TV people give us an interactive button to get a quick on-screen synopsis of the state of play, and pictures of the characters with their names and "positions"? Maybe I could hire an explainer who would sit there and answer my questions ("who is that who just got killed?").

Long and boring. A talky "people movie". Goodbye, I'm going to watch Lion King or Titan A.E. now or perhaps my Invader Zim DVDs now.

I have not yet seen the movie, but I did attempt to read the book. I read almost 100 pages, but boredom forced me to stop.

I wonder if any of you watched that movie? Did you feel like you just "don't get it"? I attempted to watch for the first 20 minutes then gave up. It seems like they talk in gibberish. Apparently it's supposed to have some indirect subtle meaning.

I've had this problem with other movies, not but not with the Godfather. Ritalin has really helped me comprehend a lot of things.
