I am exactly opposite. I avoid procrastinating because of anxiety.

I'm a major-league procrastinator.

I always wait for the last minute. I usually get things done, though.

There are times, however, when I screw up, and have to work twice as hard to offset my procrastination. I would have worked half as had had I not procrastinated!

Procastination can be a first cousin of perfectionism - and perfectionism sometimes develops from being regarded by others as not good enough in some way. It's like a spider web; at the centre is the damage that negative attitudes toward ASD cause, and the web is made up of responses to that ignorance and the hurt it causes.

And positive motivation to get the details right is very different than a fear of failure or judgement.

Yes it is; and positive things can come from adverse experiences, my perfectionism was helped me win academic respect in the university years..

LOL...I wish I were a perfectionist--I would have gone farther in life than being a civil service clerk.

But too much perfectionism--getting bogged down in details such as semantics--often veers one away from the essence/heart of the matter.

I find WP exceedingly helpful, as it gives me the opportunity to learn about others on the spectrum. What I am starting to conclude is how much of our behavior is a direct result of learning how to effectively adapt within our own unique environments.

I definitely have a weak central coherence cognitive process. And, I suppose that is what -- at least partially -- makes me susceptible to perfectionism. However, I respond to that perfectionism, not be by procrastinating, but by doing the exact opposite. I maintain prioritized to do lists. I get anxious, when the list gets too big. Likewise, I get personal satisfaction from crossing things off that list.

That's a good way of putting it: "Adapting to our unique environments." This means "self-environment" as well as the "outer" environment, I believe.

Exactly!
Also, the anxiety of possible failure (less than perfect) causes a dread of engaging.
