Sometimes I prefer to be ignored...like invisible.

I like that too. My opinions seem to provoke people too often for it to be safe to not be ignored.

I get ignored a lot, especially on here. I write a lot of thoughtful posts and the thread usually dies not long after.

dtoxic, don't you ever think that ! !! I just love your posts. I may not acknowledge them, but I sure always read them thoroughly and enjoy them. You're one of my favs on here.

Does anyone else here feel frustrated when you want to tell somebody something imporant or you want to tell them how you feel and then you get ignored. Doesn't that crap just piss you off? This has happened to me way too much in my life and I'm sick of it.
I think it happens to aspies more than NTs.

Yeah. I'm not exactly a concise speaker. People, even my mom, more often than not just drown me out. It makes forming any sort of meaningful relationship impossible. People accuse me of interrupting all the time when I know I didn't. I think its because they just genuinely don't realize or care that I'm speaking. My mom was always telling me to dumb my thoughts down, to not express myself because of how I talk. I didn't go for it. Now I'm still me, but feel alone even when I'm surrounded by people.

I think you are a very concise speaker if your post is any indication. Sometimes people like to dominate the conversation and the only way you can get a word in is to interrupt. Dumbing your thoughts down is never a good idea in my opinion.

In real life, I seem to have the ability to be "invisible" in a crowd. I can't tell if I have been noticed by ignored, or simply not noticed at all.

On this forum, I calculated my "ignoring" ratios:

-- 30% of my posts quote or acknowledge the posts of others/70% do not acknowledge the posts of others

-- 24% of my posts are quoted or acknowledged in subsequent responses by others/76% are not responded to

-- 6% of my posts are threadkillers

-- I respond to <.1% of posts

-- The likelihood that I read a post is approximately = (my current interest level in the thread topic on a scale of 1 to 500) divided by ( (# of words in the post) x (# of replies in the thread) )

I hate to be ignored has talking about how I feel is hard enough.
