I'm glad this specified first born to the mother, makes it easier to answer

Don't let science find out about this, they'll start banning first-born children :x

I am first born with two younger (definately NT) sisters. What I have noticed for years now is that almost all the friends (including boyfriend) that I have ever had are also first borns. There have been a few younger children and some only children, but these friends have not lasted very long.

I'm the eldest of three brothers.

However, I'm afraid that if you wanted your poll to mean anything
you would have had to provide at least a separate box for only child,
and preferably oldest of two, oldest of three, etc. Without that your
information is useless.

I'm the first born, but not the first my mother was pregnant with. I don't know where that puts me in terms of your data collecting.

My father was also first born, but my uncle was third born.

I'm the middle child but the first born male so it is confusing with what this thread is talking about.

I think I am definitely masculine on a psychological level. Not so much on a physical one though. I look feminine and don't really have the desire to look masculine.

Girl only child
Although feminine enough, and definitely not gay, I have always related more to men, and thought of myself-as-protagonist in a kind of "same struggles" kind of way.
I have many masculine qualities and ambitions.

The theory is that the first born, regardless of
gender, would receive the maximum level of
testosterone (girls receive a certain amount
although it's a male hormone).For later
siblings the level can possibly fall below the maximum. It doesn't matter if you're male
or female.

Well, obviously it matters to yourself and those
who know you :)

If this is true, why do you suppose so many aspies test as IN** in the Myers-Briggs test, "intuitive" being key...? Is it just a semantic difference?
I always tend to think of "intuition" as fast logic. It's not always explainable at first, but can usually be explained later.

I'm an only child.

I also don't consider myself to have more male qualities than female qualities.

Asperger's is thought to result in a higher degree
of what are considered 'male' qualities (logic as opposed to intuition). The theory is that if you are a first-born,you will have received a maximum amount of Testosterone in your mother's womb,
regardless of whether you are male or female and may therefore have more chance of being predisposed to developing Asperger's.If you are not first born then the amount of testosterone is liable to have reduced..

Interesting theory, but i have my doubts. I'm a first born child (of 4 kids total, but the first baby died while still in my mother's womb). I guess that means I'm technically a 2nd child, but the first to be 'born.' My mother was 32 when I entered this earthly existence.
My youngest brother, also AS, was born when my mother was almost 40, and he was a 'surprise' baby, I guess you could say. I don't think our AS was caused by testosterone levels in my mother, but was instead due to a genetic component that somehow skipped my middle brother.

I'm not sure how Myers-Briggs defines Intuition but one dictionary defines it as :
The act of knowing without the use of
rational processes.Sharp insight.A notion.

These almost seem to be the opposite of
using logic, but it is strange how aspies can
test as IN* (I=Introverted and N=iNtuition).

Although society tends to associate logic/
reasoning as more of a 'male' attribute and intuition/feeling as 'female',I suppose everyone has a balance of both.A lot of
Aspies are perceived as having an imbalance
with a reliance on the 'male' logic at the expense of the 'female' intuition.

Then again, ancient religions used to worship
the Sun as a male deity and the Moon as female so maybe it's all fanciful :)

I have a problem sometimes with peoples' definitions of things. Because I test "intuitive" on the MBTI I associate "intuition" with the way I think and don't understand the other definition of "intuition". New knowledge has to come from somewhere, an integration of things perhaps, or it's just a lucky guess. The male/female dichotomization of logic/intuition just sounds to me like a way of discounting womens' ideas as baseless.

Your question is very interesting to me. I am open to any explanation of this male/female logic/intuition, it just hasn't been explained to me in a satisfactory way yet.
