Do people believe that you are autistic?

I think my family believes me but I don't go around telling strangers until I get to know them, not sure if they believe me or not.

I have mintioned it to a few people when the situation came up. I met another person at the park with AS that way. Aside from him, I never tell kids or teenagers I have AS. Just adults who seem like decent people. Every one of them tells me I don't look autistic if autistic people are supposed to look a certian way. Just follow me home and wait for me to decompress. Then tell me I don't "look autistic".
