Love driving, hate traffic. Everyone hates traffic. With an undying passion.
I picked it up very easily, third time behind the wheel I was already on the road. With no lessons other than my dad. We almost died those first two times but it was cool. In the end.

Not at all. I have many problems with my driving and sensory issues. I avoid it whenever possible and do everything I can to get rides (usually carpool with a friend to campus and he drives, saves gas and all that too). Also driving gets really hard here in the winter (its alaska, duhhhh). Usually after a drive I'll feel physically and mentally exhausted too.

I like driving, but other drivers ruin it for me. I don't like it when the person behind me is in a hurry and gets on my bumper when I'm going the speed limit. I also don't like when I'm about to make a right turn on a red light, and the impatient driver behind me honks. Someone even did that when I was waiting for people to make a legal left or U-turn. Then, there are those who can't read signs that say "No Turn on Red" who honk because I don't want a ticket, so I'm doing what the sign says. I wish people would just leave earlier if they're in such a hurry to get somewhere.

I like driving, especially by myself and when the roads are quiet. Usually at night.

It is amazing how many people here have had the same response as me - driving would be nice if other drivers didn't ruin it!

I would also point out that while the act of driving is enjoyable and I like cars, I do think cars are impractical and inconvenient as a mode of transport in urban and suburban environments. (Actually, I think North American-style suburbs should not exist altogether, being examples of extremely poor urban planning.)

Light rail is the most practical mode of transport within cities rather than cars or (slightly better) buses, while inter-city trips are best handled by high-speed rail in lieu of cars and airplanes. (Short-haul flying is effectively made obsolete by high-speed rail where it exists.) Of course, airplanes remain the only practical solution for longer trips.

I love it and hate it :?

I haven't driven for many years. When I did, I got very confident on the routine 5-mile drive to and from work. Had a good coach while learning, did that route every day with her, for months, before my test - as we worked at the same place and lived near each other, it was an ideal arrangement. That repetition really helped - years before I'd failed my test twice, just couldn't "get it."

Didn't drive long enough to notice anybody but myself doing things wrong  A few people cut in or wouldn't let me in, nothing really aggressive. It was hard to get used to the flexible nature of some of the rules - the manual looks nicely systematic and objective, but in some circumstances you can cause an accident by obeying them :? For one particular junction there were 3 ways of doing it - the book way, the police way, and the actual way 8O .

But new routes were a big problem - I couldn't navigate and drive safely at the same time. So I'd err on the side of safety and get lost. I could never anticipate the correct lane for the next turn. The road markings don't always make it clear in time. I love the motorways - everything's clearly marked on those.

One reason I don't drive now is that I've always felt I've got "something missing" compared to other people, something that might kill me if I hit the wrong situation. But I'm still considering it. 8)

When there is no traffic - Yes. Im usually very tense so it proves to be very exhausting. I suppose I share the sentiments of most of you who have posted.

A quiet country road would be great.

Dont worry when I was younger my parents said the same you just need to wait a few more years to catch up on maturity and then you will be able to do it. I am 28 and just got my licence on August 29th.

I had my first drive thru Burger King last night I ordered a Bacon Deluxe meal It is pretty cool to be able to do all that I like driving it gives me a lot of freedom i used to not have. Public transport is good here and i still use it a lot but it is far less convenient.

This is interesting as I,Myself no longer drive not because I despise driving but, at this moment don't have a car due to an unpleasant automobile accident however, with the high fuel prices, car insurance and traffic from Hell basically, I'm okay with taking the local Bus to get where I'm going to and from.

Driving a car is fun. But I hate dense traffic. There are too many things to watch - another cars, traffic lights, signs, pedestrians...
