If I had a million dollars... (catchy phrase..would make a good song..;) I'd be able to buy all the friends, counselors, and 'flappers' to take care of the real world for me...;)

I'm not sure, I would pay some money probably but 1 million would be too high.

I'm gonna save myself time and not use the quote feature, i think everyone knows who posted the list anyway. Here's my evaluation:

1) - No more sensory integration issues.
Yes this happens upon taking the cure and it is nice.

2) - No more meltdowns
True

3) - You feel lucid, happy and mentally agile.
I was lucid in aspie form too, happy and mentally agile

4) - Your thoughts become a source of interest, not anxiety or depression
I do find my thought processes more efficient since the cure. My rate of discoveries per hour of thought has increased dramatically.

5) - You no longer have to think up/manufacture responses in social situations, it all comes instinctively
Totally true and it's beautiful. It has drawbacks tho, you'll find it harder to tell lies when you are no longer preparing your words carefully.

6) - People find you amusing, interesting and likable
Yup, this comes with the cure.

7) - You like and can genuinely connect with humanity
Yes... to a point. You like and can genuinely connect with normal people. With unnormal people things get even more difficult than when being aspie.

8 ) - You're much more up-together because you have excellent executive functionality (self awareness, self-control, good working memory, motivation)
True. It gets easier to get things done. Disagree on the memory only, my memory has always been poor, before and after the cure.

9) - Your thoughts become much more crystalline and in consequence, you are able to communicate and express them very succinctly - both verbally and on paper.
Yes, i am developing theories on why this is so. You see the NT mind works the same way that human languages work, that's why languages are the way they are, they were shaped by NTs. Aspies think differently and to them learning a human spoken language is a foreign thing, se we learn it by rules, which is why we take those grammar rules to the extreme and end up talking like little profesors. This is also why we find it easier to learn computer languages, while NTs find it hard, they have never learned a radically different language before, while we have.

10) - Your new found sociability and popularity mean that you can choose from a wide range of occupations
Not true. Occupations and popularity have nothing to do, IMO. You can choose new occupations that weren't available before but that's because of your new instincts directly.

11) - You get positive reactions from humanity and attract lots of friends.
Define friend....

12) - You find yourself supported by friends and family because they like you.
Yea you find that people are more willing to help you with anything, sometimes they react as if your problems were theirs. You yourself become more likely to tell your problems to others, you actually start to look for people anytime you have a problem, it becomes a learned instinct.

13) - You can look forward to a career with genuine scope for promotion
Yup. But i'm not sure on this one yet. There's a chance the cure turns you into an alpha male and if it is so, then it all depends on how well you deal with the disadvantages of being an alpha.

14) - The world is full of potential rather than hostility and uncertainty
Yea, but don't trust people too much, each has agendas of their own.

There was no #15 on the list...

16) - Your sporting potential in unleashed and you can enjoy a variety of them
True. It feels wonderful.

17) - You are graceful and elegant in motion
True, specially important for dancing.

18 ) - You are respected by humanity
True. Goodbye bullies.

19) - You are loved by humanity
I wouldn't know about that, my researching ways get in the way of love

20) - Life is just a great deal easier
Life becomes more intense, but not necesarilly easier. It might look easing when you just took the cure and you had a lot of projects stalled because of your aspieness and now everything starts moving on, but on the long term you come up with new "NT" goals for yourself and it won't look easy anymore.

21) - You get to lead a life that fulfills your need for security, belonging and self-realisation
Maslow? I have been thinking that maslow's thing was designed about NTs. I've been asking myself how does the pyramid of needs of an aspie look like. It is likely that those needs get created by the cure, so saying that the cure fulfills them is... complex...

Notably missing from the list:
22) Your singing improves when you lose the monotone voice
23) Asperger-caused allergies go away
24) There's something about a sixth sense getting activated upon taking the cure, but i'd like lots of more info on the subject before making that claim.
25) Your memories are now reinterpreted by your brain, so that now you will remember things as if you had always been normal. Conflicts arising from this might be resolved in seemingly random ways.

But the most important ones come from knowing the cure itself:
A) Once you know the cure you will forever know how to dominate your emotions and use them at your will. You are no longer a complete slave of your subconscious.
B) On becoming an NT you will have seen life from two very different points of view. This gives you a level of maturity that the rest of the population can only dream of. Your relationships with people will be more sucessful because you now know that everyone experiences the world in different ways.

I wouldn't pay 1 million to keep AS.

I would however pay 1 million to stop people from using acronyms wrong. How many people here understand how acronyms work, or are supposedly "not influenced" by the norm? Take a look at the amount of people here that use acronyms incorrectly. I shall now give you my example.

"Would you pay 1 million to stay AS?"

AS = Asperger's Syndrome, right? So, that translates to:

"Would you pay 1 million to stay Asperger's Syndrome?"

I'll let you off if you don't speak English as your first language. Many people tend to do this, when replacing the word "stay" with "keep" would be appropriate.

"Would you pay 1 million to keep AS?"

This doesn't even cover the people who say:

"I am AS"

You ARE the syndrome? Wow, that is definitely a severe case of Asperger's Syndrome to actually BE it.

Okay, so let's just assume my continually being annoyed by things like that are because of AS. I'd rather not be annoyed by as much as I am, so, if I can remove the constant annoyance, I would gladly NOT pay 1 million to remain having AS.

At the moment everything seems hopeless, so, I would take the 'cure' even if it's a bullet to the head really. At least it'll be quick and relatively painless.

I would keep AS if the autistic population for some reason was to be wiped out and the only way to keep it was to pay 1 million to some narrow minded bastard(s), and I happened to be filthy rich and AS was the very thing that helped me.

That would be nice. On the flip side, no more synesthesia either. I like synesthesia. Beethoven's 5th would not sound as awesome if it weren't a deep, burning crimson.

2) - No more meltdowns

I don't really have these, I've learned to control them.

Quote:
3) - You feel lucid, happy and mentally agile.

I already do.

Quote:
4) - Your thoughts become a source of interest, not anxiety or depression

They already are.

5) - You no longer have to think up/manufacture responses in social situations, it all comes instinctively

I've seen enough NT's utterly fail at social situations. Merely not having AS does not guarantee that one will be a social butterfly. Besides that, even among socially successful NT's, I constantly observe interpersonal relationships as a source of anguish to the people involved in them. I will retain my social avoidance; it works for me.

Quote:
6) - People find you amusing, interesting and likable

They already do. Well, some do, and those tend to be the people I find interesting as well, so it works out.

Quote:
7) - You like and can genuinely connect with humanity

Not interested. I'm a misanthrope, why would I *want* to connect with humanity?
Quote:
8) - You're much more up-together because you have excellent executive functionality (self awareness, self-control, good working memory, motivation)

My organizational skills aren't great, but they're within reason and certainly no worse than most NT's.

9) - Your thoughts become much more crystalline and in consequence, you are able to communicate and express them very succinctly - both verbally and on paper.

I don't have any problem with this. I ceilinged the test for verbal IQ.

Quote:
10) - Your new found sociability and popularity mean that you can choose from a wide range of occupations

I know a lot of NT's who are not sociable or popular and who do not have a very wide range of career choices.

Quote:
11) - You get positive reactions from humanity and attract lots of friends.
12) - You find yourself supported by friends and family because they like you.
13) - You can look forward to a career with genuine scope for promotion
14) - The world is full of potential rather than hostility and uncertainty

See above. None of these things are guaranteed to NTs.

Quote:
16) - Your sporting potential in unleashed and you can enjoy a variety of them

Not interested.

Quote:
17) - You are graceful and elegant in motion

So I'm clumsy. So what?

Quote:
18) - You are respected by humanity

I will earn respect in my own way.

Quote:
19) - You are loved by humanity

This is not something that happens to very many NTs.

Quote:
20) - Life is just a great deal easier

Where's the fun when you take away all the challenge?

Quote:
21) - You get to lead a life that fulfills your need for security, belonging and self-realisation

I already do.
