Yeah, I've noticed this ever since I joined here, there seem to be popular people and then there's the rest of us. At least those g*d-awful member appreciation threads have stopped. They make me cringe (probably because I'm never on any of them)

With stunning synchronicity, as Lemon mentioned, Threadkillers in In Depth welcomes all outcasts, quiet members who feel a bit left out of things, and we're chatting about feeling left out there at the mo. if anyone wants to pop in. I guarantee no-one is popular there! :D

As they say, it is better to have loved and lost than to not have loved at all.

I have to admit that I used a complete wrong angle to this topic. I did not mean myself, but it can certainly look like I'm whining on my own behalf. I meant in general, lots of good posts seem to vanish unnoticed down the drain, and that's a shame.
I understand that there are many posts, and I for one does not notice everything. I've had my share of being recognised, but I feel that a neebie that posts a good topic feels kind of rejected, if not at least a few ppl tell that person how they feel..etc. It means a lot when you're new in a place like this.
I wish I had not started this mess

Thank you Gary, it means a lot. But you must believe me when I say it was not on my behalf I started this stupid thread.
I've come to understand that even if a post get few replies, many ppl on WP maybe have read it and concidered it.
This one I admit was stupid and I did not use the correct angle to address my concern. Unfortunately, I have noticed that ppl like polls, so I got fixed on making the poll, and somehow it all came out the wrong way. s**t happens

I would equate it to television. I'm sure there are people trying to get interesting/thought provoking/etc stuff on television, but in the end, 99+% of what is broadcast is crap.

It's just another way in which AS and NT are quite similar.

Some people just come up with interesting topics. For others, it's hit or miss.

None of us know how that feels...

Seriously, no harm done. We understand. If I had a dime for every time a half baked thought came flying out of my mouth in a miscommunication flurry that offended others, I'd be a rich woman.

Yeah, you're right, but I think I somehow got about this in a wrong way. I hate to step on someones toes. I guess I just got fixed on the poll thing, think that's kind of fun.
And of cause, Murphys law says that this thread, that I regret I ever posted, will go on forever.

You're right, of cause. I got so fixed by making the poll that I forgot how to present my concern. It just came out totally wrong. On the bright side I got many nice answers :D

Glad you understand, I will be more careful from now. At least I was talking in genereral, and my concern was with the newbies, not myself. I've got my share of recognition, no complains.

Noticing the author of a thread, is something that I've picked up only in the last couple months. For a long time, I never looked, or cared, who the author was. Call it aspie apathy, but, I was always more interested in the topic.

Now, I make a conscious effort to notice who the author is. I am trying to get to know different personalities, based on their topics and responses. For me, it also helps to relate to people better in the real world, in a certain way. I have poor social skills, and am thankful that I have WP, in that it is slowly developing my social abilities.

Just as in real life, there will always be favorites, and competition to be favorites. The only thing one can do to become more popular is, to develop their personality so that it will appeal to more people. That change takes time, ability, and practice.

Thanks, I've noticed that. Believe me, the topic somehow came out the wrong way, I'm no better than others. I just got so fixed on the poll questions, that I somehow twisted my own mind and made a mess of it all.

No need to explain, I wasn't judging you, at all. My response was only an interpretation of myself, and my ideas, and was directed at no one in particular. :)

Ok, but I have a feeling that this thread, that I'm not exactly proud of, will last for a long, long time. I think it's called Murphy's law.

At least you weren't as stupid as I was to make about a thread about women's quality.
