everyone and i mean everyone - either gets burned up in the furnace, buried in the ground for the maggots and worms to munch on, or pumped full of mortician's chemicals in an effort to stave off the inevitable.

In my opinion, the happiest people are married, philanthropic couples where both have phlegmatic personalities. Aspie or NT doesn't matter.

I can't think of anyone I know who is happy all the time. It seems like no matter who the person is they like to complain and they do. Some people I know are only happy when they are trying to convince someone somebody else is no good. I think a lot of times they are feeling guilty about something and are trying to redeem these feelings.

:D exactly as I am very happy when allowed to be my quirky self :alien:

how can you possibly compare the two? Everyone has different life experiences and everyone has their own issues.

Exactly. There are a LOT more variables that determine a person's happiness than whether or not the person is on the autistic spectrum.

There should be an option that says "They tend to be about equal."

Grab yourself an NT, make him part of a minority--maybe gay or black in an area where those things aren't thought well of; or give him a physical disability. Actually, grab yourself about five hundred NTs, under those conditions. Then get the same number of Aspies. Stir, wait a few decades, survey them all about their level of happiness. Use a subjective survey instead of an objective measure of happiness; we're looking at whether these people feel fulfilled, content, etc., rather than whether they have lots of money and lots of friends.

You'll probably find their average levels of happiness are the same. What you will find that's interesting, though, is the range of "scores" is going to be all over the place. You're going to find people from both groups who are absolutely despondent--hate themselves, hate the world, feel like life is going nowhere and nobody will ever give them a break, blame everything on whatever it is that makes them different. You're also going to find some people who love their lives, take advantage of their differences, have good self-esteem, and become mentors and role models for others. Most people will be in between, of course; they'll have some times when they feel disappointed and frustrated, and other times when they feel more secure and proud of who they are. Most people will find their way, eventually, to a life they can live with, activities they enjoy, and an identity that includes their differences as a neutral fact.

I have a better and happier life than anybody else.

Your results and methods may vary.

What is "NT"?

Well it depends upon who is using the term, mostly on this particular forum it appears to be idiots who seem to think having aspergers is something to aspire too and therefore being Neurotypical is a lesser state of being. Therefore NT not only means Neurotypical but is also an insult. Likewise Aspie means that you have aspergers syndrome and therefore (Generally) on this particular forum means that you are cool and are part of the forward evolution of the species.

IMO this attitude is sad and pathetic

Regarding this post I would question the voracity of some of the claims. It is very common among aspergers affected people to WANT to be gregarious but lack the necessary skills to succeed in this most essential of human traits, so quite possibly those of you that think you are happy in your seclusion either do not have aspergers or are delusional.

Happiness is how you live it.

I abstained myself from voting. Both have different ups and downs.

I have been wondering this for a while. :?:

An Aspie has to adapt him/her self to an NT world. Aspies have more difficult childhoods, but it is possible for them to reconcile with their nature and adapt to the Normal world sufficiently that they can be happy folk. It took me over forty years, but I pass for human rather well. Few people who have not known me for a long time imagine that I have the Aspergerian mind set.

Life is what you make it my friends, this is a undeniable universal truth. (doesn't matter if you are aspie, NT, cancer patient, clown, alcoholic or a pedophile).

In the end, it ALL depends on you. :!:

I think that NT are happier because they are in majority. If 90% of population should be AS, AS should be happier then NT (but NT should be considered as "strange" in that case :-) )
