I've been told I talk too loudly...this is usually when I'm talking about an interest because that's when I get excited.

When I'm really uncomfortable my voice is so quiet people can't even hear it. Otherwise I am WAY too loud. It gets me in a lot of trouble sometimes. =>

Yeah, sometimes I can't whisper and am a bit too loud. Sometimes in social situations I can't help but talk quietly, and sometimes when I'm excited I can't help but talk fast.

I can relate with this too. Someone I was talking to recently said that at times they couldn't hear me because my voice often trails off at the end of my passages. So my voice can quite down while I am still talking and people will come in on my conversation thinking I am done when I am not. That happens frequently. I do have very sensitive ears, so I may think I am louder than I am. Then, at some times I surprise myself at how loud I am. Like last night at dinner in a very quiet environment, I spoke very loudly when my wife was right beside me---I didn't know I was speaking that loud until I caught myself. I think this is a very common thing with us on the autistic spectrum.

My voice is extremely quiet. Most people don't hear me the first time I speak. I do try to speak loudly, but when I do it feels like I'm putting effort into every word and it's hard to concentrate on what I'm actually saying. I think a lot of the time when people say hello to me they don't hear me saying hello back, and they think I'm ignoring them. It bothers me.

I'm often told that I speak too quietly or mumble, but I hear it as normal and everyone else is shouting. I do get a bit frustrated at having to repeat myself because I haven't been heard.

I'm told that I speak too loudly. I don't whether this is due to my unusual power or an inability to lower my volume to create an indoor voice.

For most of my life, people were frustrated with me for speaking too low, too fast and for mumbling. I didn't project my voice because I was so private that I didn't want to be overheard by anyone else but the person I was speaking to. After I was medicated for depression I gradually became more confident about speaking up. Now my son is the same way I was.

I'm the same way. I don't make myself heard at all in public; I find it really hard to speak up and when I do I tend to mumble and stumble over my words so much that people give up trying to listen.

Up to 3rd grade I had a permanently loud voice (up to the point people were always telling me to stop screaming). After that I have mostly been a low voice which become loud when I become confident.

And now, I am actually unable to scream from my own will anymore.

I'm too quiet sometimes. At first I thought it was because of nervousness/shyness because it happens with new or unfamiliar people. Then I noticed I do it with people I know and trust. Confusing. :?
