Omigod, I can't believe I'm not the only one with an adversion to peas!
For as long as I can remember, I sight, smell and taste of peas is enough to make me extremly nauseous. I can't stand the dry/coarse texture of them on my tongue, even if they're mixed in with something.
The same goes for beans, sweetcorn and cloves. Anything small, round and bean-shaped makes me gag.

Strangely, it doesn't apply to Jelly Beans...

I put it down to my mother hiding peas and beans in mashed potato when I was a baby in order to get me to eat them so not only is it a sensory thing, I think the deception is a key element.
Incidently, I hated mashed potatoes for years until I discovered the wonders of potato cakes (Potato fritters).

I can't stand garbanzo beans but other than that - peas and beans are awesome! Great source of protein and fiber.

Its weird to read all these aversions to vegetables and fruit.

The only textures that really freak me out are in animal-based food.

I CAN'T STAND fastfood hamburgers where you bite in and hit a piece of bone or cartiledge. If I have to eat a McDonalds hamburger, I barely chew it. I bite it and swallow it so I won't hit anything crunchy. (I LOVE quality hamburgers.)

Same with chicken sandwiches or nuggets - when you bite in and get something chewy - like a rubberband. :eew:

Or with a steak - I loathe fat and tendons and stuff. I have to perform micro-surgery if I'm eating a cut like a t-bone.

Could never do oysters even though I love the smell. The texture simply LOOKS horrid. Ditto with clams.

I love crab legs. They are so hard to break and some one usually does them for me. I love them to death but cant eat very many. After a while they get this real fishy taste.

I love oysters. I'd rip through 3 dozen raw no problem if you put em in front of me.

It was real hard to bring myself to try them though. There was a picture taken of me literally 2 seconds before I ingested my first oyster ever and I have the most frightened disgusted look on my face, it's one of the funniest pictures ever taken of me. I really wish I still had it.

I love peas, except when they are Split Pea Soup. Then they are discusting.

The only other food I have a major aversion to is yams. Its their texture, and to a lesser extent, their taste. I can eat them raw, but not cooked.
