and the most difficult of all is pidgin' English. When black people talk I don't understand one word, even though I have a bachelor's in English language and was made to study the major kinds of spoken English.

To be fair, when you were studying that AAVE was probably not considered a dialect of English due to racism and all. Until that Oakland declaration in the late 1970s at least. Also some right-wingers in the USA now, as well as uncle toms still consider AAVE to be 'broken' english and b***h about 'political correctness'
there probably is a college offering AAVE classes. I wish there was one at my current college..
Wikipedia says that is ebonics. Is that correct? If so, then it ISN'T a dialect! ALL dialects DO have a basic structure/vocabulary that ties them together. Some cultures twist that around and then it becomes a PIDGIN! That isn't peculiar to ebonics, ebonics is one of many. It is simply that it is probably the largest in the U,S, HECK, the pro-ebonic blacks wanted to consider it another language ENTIRELY!

! I thought that Americans could understand pidgin' English naturally.
Some can. It depends on how much experience they have with AAVE speaking. Example, someone who works in a Harold's Chicken (local fast food restaurant in Chicago's south side) would do better at this than someone who worked at a 'high-class' restaurant in the Water Tower place in the city center.
White people from the rich outer suburbs, or from different cities will be wondering WTF is going on. I think Ive noticed that myself when they look confused at other people talking or simply being in a majority black area.
To expand on what warsie said, I understand MUCH of it, but certainly not all. And I meant to mention earlier that some blacks are HAPPY about this. They can talk in an area and many whites won't understand them AT ALL, and you can pretty much forget about the other races/ethnicities as well.

Well, Africa isn't officially an english speaking nation.
many parts of Africa have English and French as an official language.
Well, french is popular, probably more so than english. And there are a number of other languages too. When I spoke of officially, it was simply the closest word I could think of, and probably the most accurate. I am NOT talking about the government, documents, etc.... I am talking about the country and people.

She got in trouble, because she spoke too clearly! It turns out SHE is black.
she's autistic too. Her speech formatting is different, similar in my case apparently.
She said her mother said she was talking too white! One wonders how she could talk too white. The language has no color, and whites use FAR more than one language, as a race.

Some blacks PRIDE themselves on speaking in a wierd language and earlier, instead of calling it a PIDGEON of english, they tried to call it ebonics! Heck, many AMERICANS have problems with understanding that.
lol @ 'weird language'. Yes it's a pidgin, the official term for Ebonics is now AAVE.
Call it what you want, a rose is still a rose!

I don't know why some blacks BORN here consider it a white thing.
Because it was forced on them centuries ago. That and the dialect differences.
How were the dialect differences forced on them, outside of how everyone else(INCLUDING WHITES) has it "forced" on them? As for english, that was MAYBE your great, great, grandparents! HEY, my paternal great grandparents had it "forced" on them! Had they openly spoken german, they could have been thrown in jail! My maternal great grandparents, and possibly grandparents, would have been treated almost like vermin, with signs that were SO popular that they were called INNA signs! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-Irish_racism

Still, it is interesting because some british use more slang and more local references, and a lot of americans feel that american english is slower, ect.... Go figure. I guesss you can't please everyone.
wait...british use more slang

I WAS referring to older proper middle class and upperclass english. Today, I guess you could maybe debate it. Do british people cuss like every third word?
