It IS only another flu - that is true, but if you live in an area were close contact is unavoidable, and hear its been found in your area,my suggestions were just something do-able to give some protection.

You...you mean for once something has actually outranked shots of Obama without his shirt on, in terms of news coverage?

*looks this up* Man, I need to watch the news more. Or not. You know what would be news-worthy? A president who went swimming in a suit and tie. The opposite: not news.

Believe me, dude...ya don't. Like I told ya, the news basically consists of this every day: "FLASH! SOMEBODY STUPID DOES SOMETHING INCREDIBLY STUPID!" And of COURSE those silly NTs are surprised; why, how could a "normal" person be so stupid? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Like I said...unless I see that Israel nukes Iran, it ain't news.

It's all bunk.

Pandemics throughout history were always traced back to issues of cleanliness and nutritional deficiency.

Right now, there is money to be made in terrorizing people into doing what you want....whether it's selling an experimental drug or vaccine that may or may not work or pushing forward with a controversial political policy that nobody would agree to otherwise, there are many that love to hype up things like this.

If you live in a cesspool like Mexico City where your chances of catching Swine Flu are noticeably higher, there's reason for concern. Otherwise, wash your hands, avoid people who are sick, and take lots of Vitamin C if you suspect you're coming down with something.

Of course I care. When things happen like this I get very scared to the point the fear interferes with my lifestyle.

I'm still scared of being bitten by mosquitoes out of fear of getting the West Nile Virus.

am don't care about swine flu,but bet they will start pointlessly killing pigs-healthy or not, if more humans get it here,it's a complete waist of life, they don't go around culling sick people who sneeze and cough all over everyone else.

am have a support staff going to mexico next monday [a holiday she had planned all year] and she doesn't know whether she'll be able to go or not now.

Alot of interesting replies to the person that mentioned the word "bunk" that's my 2 year old nephew's word for milk LOL! Also to the person that mention 9/11 I am more fascinated about the science of how the buildings fell and I laughed that day which my family HATED! (I am a Christian but laughed at Passion of the Christ) but I fellt more connected to Lois Lane's death in Superman than some actor portraying Jesus SHEESH!! !! !! !! !! !! !!

It is not "another flu" this one is different according to an immunologist who have studied it.

However, currently, the mortality rate is pretty low. Probably because we westeners are filled with anti-bacteria/anti virus shots, eat health food, have some sort of sanitation and a good living standard.

The best thing i heard about was simple: Wash your hands. And "mouthfilters were useless" because they could be itching and you would want to scratch with your hands and voila' - infection anyway.

So, i will now wash my hands more often, keep lots of frozen pizzas in my fridge and play lots of MMO's. So, for me a pandemic would not be a significant change in my lifestyle :D

In times like these, i wonder if it isnt a VERY good natural advantage to be antisocial or to have very small social needs...

You have got it slightly wrong.

Viruses cannot be killed by medication; However, the symptoms of a viral infection can be treated.

Bacteria, on the other hand, is indeed becoming more and more resistant, and even immune, to certain types of medication due to overuse and/or misuse of the medication. :nerdy:

I care. Not much, but as soon as it would hit my country I'd start being really concerned.

I indeed do not care. If it actually starts getting serious, then we'll see. So far it is nothing to worry about and the media touts it like it's actually important... just to get people all worked up.

It is here in California... but it has infected like 7 people in a state of 3 million and no one has died. I would not call that a cause for concern. Even in Mexico it infected 1,600 and killed only 109. That in itself, while not great, is certainly not cause to label it as an epidemic. Get some perspective, people.

What can be do about it anyway? We can wash our hands, cover our mouths when we cough, wear masks and stay away from crowds. That is just about it, until there is a sufficient supply of tanaflu vaccine on hand.

Aside from reasonable personal cleanliness and caution worrying will do no good whatsoever.

Last night I went to a mexican joint and ate a pork verde burrito. I now consider myself vaccinated.
