I have a question for you, Stoek and deltafunction.
At what point does personal responsibility step in? At what point do you think that it is up to the perusers of this forum to moderate which threads they click into? Should everyone carefully regulate the amount of negativity they include in any given post, just in case it makes someone else feel bad*?
*Note: I'm not trying to be sarcastic here. I'm genuinely curious as to what exactly you think should happen to change how this forum works. Unless you're saying that the mods should begin policing messages for errant traces of negativity, I'm not quite sure how what you're proposing is feasible.

I don't know about Stoek. I just wish that people wouldn't be so mean sometimes if someone tries to be positive.
For me it's all personal responsibility. I understand that many people on here are depressed, and I was as well. I'm not expecting people to change. All I can do is say how I feel and hope for the best.
We're all here because of aspergers/asd of some sort, so I don't expect people to know how their posts impact others. That's why I say my opinion here and hope that others can understand. I am personally more sensitive than most people, so it probably impacts me more than the majority. I understand that others react differently.

Thank you, deltafunction. I haven't been here long (only two days, lol), but I really appreciate your attitude. You seem like a very pleasant person to converse with. :3

Are you implying that your response to this forum/discussion board is more NT-like than other peoples'?
I was holding back from raising the NT word so I'm pleased you've done it for me!
This explains everything!
You are aligning yourself more at the NT end of the spectrum or even as an NT and you are effectively telling the rest of us
'Stop being so autistic'
I've heard it all now!
You realize this would be considered a personal attack.

You've questions me, because you weren't sure what I meant.
Than you use a term This explains everything! to signify that you've decided what I've said.
I said a stronger sense of sympathy, Its likely even people that are non verbal, may have issues with a stronger sense of sympathy, there is no room for less nt or more aspie in that aspect.
I clearly stated that it was through sympathy not empathy, something that aspies often have stronger response for than even nt's.

Hehe. Just because folk are showing their wonderful spectrum qualities in their posts doesn't make a thread about autism ...
I just find it amusing that when part of the reasoning of the OP is that people post in the wrong place, they posted this in the wrong place.
In my opinion this thread does not belong here and should be moved to the more appropriate place of wrongplanet.net discussion.
It doesn't matter though, moderators are monitoring and posting in this thread ... they'd have moved it well before it hit 23 pages if they agreed with me!

WP is no different than most big forums nowadays
Especially because ASD's are such a big political hot potato
Many lies and misconceptions abound regarding ASD's,
Corruption and paid forum posting and lobbying and income seeking medical 'experts'
The truth is very rare here indeed
And that in itself will turn members away again and again
Those who stay dont mind the BS
Thats why I no longer begin threads
many replies are politically motivated rather than factual logic and truths
It could be seen as an assimilation vehicle into corrupt NT society, rather than offering pride to those who have been bullied for their autistic natures
Welcome to hell b*****s

I don' t completely agree, but I do love the poetry of your posts. This thread is just circling its tail, and starting to feel like a PPR debate.

i agree . but we rarely move threads these days, sorta depends on guidance from the site owner. if it isn't adult or rulebreaky or inappropriate we leave them in place

In my opinion you are acting in a more NT fashion than I myself and others on this forum tend to act
You have said yourself that you have more of an NT-like reaction to posts - this is what you mean - your NT sensibility ie how it comes across to an NT
Thus explains why you don't relate to the negative posts on here and why we don't relate to your problem with them
NTs have this 'must be upbeat all the time and not drag people down' thing going on all the time and I find it highly ironic to see a person trying to impose it on an autistic board!

Without a doubt I agree that many here are not effected as strongly by negativity as are the regular population.
There is no denial of this, however the reality is for a large number of aspies this site is overwhelming.
If you cannot see this, I'm sorry I have no way of explaining this. It's simply a matter of perception that is simply more sensitive, than what is found here, if you lack this sensitivity there really is no way to explain it.

I repeat Stoek, you still haven't stated how you come to know that you speak for this vast number of Aspies.

i think you took the dang thread pages back, with this post:

I don't understand the issue with hypothetical aspies that should be gathered in from the wild or something. There always can be room for improvement in some areas, but WP is doing what it is meant to do-- providing a framework for people on the autistic spectrum, and those interested in learning about it to come together as an online community. We are the community, and I hope it continues that way. This isn't supposed to be about keeping up an "autism" public image, and the site will continue to draw in new users because honest stories and even gripes will resonate with those that need to hear it.
This is another thing i've noticed that i mentioned in another thread in this forum, however Aunt worded the best way better than i did with a mess of words.
A lot seem to brag about their intelligence levels and IQs.
It's possible not everyone is a genius, some might be below normal or normal IQs, what if someone felt left out?
I would rather include everyone as a whole, than seperate them by IQs
People are different, and there will always be gravitation towards those with similar interests, personalities, or abilities. If someone is bragging about something such as intelligence level, it's probably because it's one thing they can hang on to feel good about themselves. Instead of feeling left out, recognize that there are a lot of people with self esteem issues and don't take everything so personally.
Want to see some positivity? Post some. That simple. Want to avoid negativity? Don't read those posts--and it's not too hard to decipher which ones they are before diving into them. I just find it refreshing that everyone gets to state their opinion, no matter what side of an equation they're on.

Because this isn't a request for moderators to change there policy.
This is request that posters change there posting habbits, for the concern of those that are overly sympathetic.

If you were overly sympathetic you would be fine with people posting negatively - you'd be empathetic enough to understand that a lot of people with Aspergers lead negative lives
I think your problem with negative posting comes from a distinct lack of sympathy
