She is a big enough person to accept her dx & to try & take steps to improve her life & therefor the lives of those around her who care about her.

It's funny. The more you try & make your case the more arrogant you sound. Don't take that the wrong way, I know you can't help it & you don't mean to come off that way, but IMO, you do.

Again. IMO Aspies are no more or less right than anyone else. Perhaps it's just that their conviction of belief is so strong and unwavering that they just can't accept that point of view.

I can happily accept that other people have different perspectives, and points of view...

....what I cannot accept, is someone trying to tell me koalas don't have spines.

Koalas don't have spines. Porcupines have spines. Koalas have fur.

Oh,wait. Maybe you meant "spine" as in "vertebral column connected to the skull" rather than "protective spike on the outer surface of the body".

And maybe that's where the problem comes in. Two people can be absolutely right yet disagree vehemently because so many words have multiple meanings and each might be thinking of only one meaning when stating their correct case.

The thing you aspies have to understand is that you are arguing about boring, trivial stuff that no one cares about. What's the sequel to DaVinci code, on what date exactly did some event take place, what is the 14th decimal number of pi etc. You think you are doing the other person a humanitarian service or something by showing them the error of their ways and correcting them but while you're doing it they think to themselves "Jesus Christ, will that guy ever shut up, who the f*ck cares about that trivial thing?!"

And really, who does? Most people just say throwaway sentences that don't hold deep philosophical meaning that you NEED to correct, especially if they aren't your friends. It's like correcting a teacher because the mispronounced the word hypothenuse while he's busy explaining geometry to his class. It's such a random and irrelevant correction that it annoys people

So being corrected on factual information is something most people don't care about?

Good sir...it's one thing to come on these forums and explain what appears to be the "error of our ways"; it's another thing to come and here and verbally slam us...only to hurt your own image in the process...

HaHa. Good one Janissy. Spines.

And wasn't it the prequel in the books, but they changed it to a sequel in the movie?

Trivia is fun, but what Harsh_Truth doesn't understand is that to us, errors are like off key notes in a song, or dead pixels on the screen, And when people argue that the error is just as good as the truth, it's like standing in front of the speakers at a speed-metal show without earplugs, and not in the good way. It's physically painful, at least for me.

But arguing only makes it worse. Walk away. Choose your battles carefully. Work your way around the obstacle.

This describes me to a T. (What does that mean? To a T?)

It's probably safe to say with out starting an argument or debate, that people who are open minded about religion are probably open minded about most things. To me, open mindedness equals intelligence. I don't think you can have one without the other.

Well, thank you kind sir. It's the first time I have been blessed by an Aspie and a long time since I have been called a fair maiden.

If that were the case, then they wouldn't argue with us about it, rather than just hear the correction and move on. For instance, the geometry teacher mispronounces hypthenuse as he describes the Pythagorean Theorem. An Aspie in the class shouts out without raising the hand the correct way to pronounce the term, and the teacher just continues going. If the geometry teacher wants to debate it, then obviously it is important to him.

Our stupid trivial details are no different than listening to someone try to remember a person's name, what color the coat was that they wore, what vehicle they drove, what celebrity they reminded them of, whose friend they are...etc. when they are trying to spit out some story. Nothing is more frustrating to have someone say, "You're not going to believe what John did to me... it all started last week, or was it the week before last? Anyway, I was at the doctor and found out I was pregnant, and John was at home, or was he at James' house, no he was at home because he texted me saying...hold on let me find the text message." All people do this crap all the time too, so don't act like it's all an Aspie thing. Everybody has interests and facts that are more relevant to them than to the rest of the world.

We don't think we are doing anyone any service by correcting them. See duke666's post.

I argue only when I really know I am right. I don't argue on my personal opinion, I argue on facts that I really know are true.

If I give advice I use conditionals or constructions like "in this situation I ..."

at least aspergers people is able to be more environment friendly than other people

others use 3000 pages to say nothing and we use no paper to say nothing and to tell a small piece of information other people still use the 3000 pages and we can say the same thing in less than 25 words

aspergers people kill less trees by not needing as much paper for the political correct thing

kill less trees for paper and environment is better

I don't think it has anything to do with being "environmentally friendly", good sir...I just think it has to do with more direct communication.

The "environmentally friendly" issue doesn't even concern me as I don't even buy into the argument in favor of it.

you need to learn that if you cut down less trees to do things then letting more trees live is more environment friendly than if you cut down 10 trees to make enough paper to do what can be done with only 1 tree of paper

use less paper and you can cut down less trees

cut down less trees and there is more trees to help the air quality

try learning science of what a tree does for the environment

I'm not missing the logistics of the point you're making...but I think you might be missing my point entirely.

Of course using the internet saves paper; no one's questioning that. But to bring in the entire argument about it being "environmentally friendly" is sort of opening up a whole 'nother can of worms.

The whole "environmental" premise is what I was getting at, my good man.

That's what I don't buy into as it is. I use the internet because it's a more direct form of communication with a community I connect with.

then i wonder what all those big things that congress passes around and what goes in your printer is if it is not paper

i was not talking about complete environment friendly as in no more coal no more plastic no more using oil

it is you that is missing the point

my comment was more environment friendly to use 1 page of paper to say what others like congress uses 3000 pages to say even less

it looks like you want to make this as a complete science and political and have all things in their exact place and make things bigger than they actually are

if that is what you want to do then think about the coal that is burned to have a computer turned on and write for 8 hours to say less than what i can say in 2 minutes and turn the computer off again

electricity is made in some way to let you have the computer turned on and then there is the carbon emissions from burning that coal and what mining does when they get that coal to give you the electricity

in case you think then nuclear power then what happens to the waste when the stuff is not able to provide more electricity

the spent nuclear rods need to be put in some place

if you want a science debate i can make this one since there is things that you obviously do not think about

My good man...the minute the words "environmentally friendly" come out, it completely heads into the areas of political ideas and power and all that.

I have no desire to enter that area; as I've said in several other places, I've pretty much dropped politics from my focus as it is.

If you were only referring to it as "we use the internet for more direct communication, rather than wasting paper and ink to make the same point", that's something else entirely, and at least IMO, would've made more sense, and wouldn't have likely even entered the arena of such a "popular issue".

think what you want

it was you that went off on cut down less trees is not more environment friendly

it was also you that went off on using a computer is more environment friendly and all i was doing was making you aware of what goes in making you able to turn your computer on

if did not mention power and things that make electricity then i guess you have the fairy dust power version for being able to use a computer

just think what you want even if you do not want to ever think of things that is actually directly related to what you want but does not fit your ideal little concept
