Although it doesn't make me gag, coffee aroma gives me to various degress depending on exposure - annoyance, headache, dizziness, loss of co-ordination and thought, panic.

Dog poo makes me gag as does sick but then that is the same with most people.

I've been overwhelmed, mentally, by things which only animals are supposed to detect.

But, I usually won't become physically ill, unless it's something fake. Sinus pain, raspy around the uvula, asthma.

Wood smoke, dust clouds, rich foods, and excessive spices are no problem.

Semi-severe Sensory Defensiveness here. With smells, it can get pretty bad. No perfumes or colognes ever allowed in my home, and certain foods/beverages are a no go. Public transportation is often a nightmare due to this, but in the winter I can at least pull my scarf up over my face. At the same time, certain smells are near obsessive for me.

I have very sensitive smell i like incense and sented candle. There are smells with some foods and chemicals that overdrive my sense of smell.

I had/have no sense of smell. People would fart left and right and I just wouldn't know what the big deal was. :?

I did love the smell of gasoline, though.

I was wondering if anybody (well obviously there's got to be a few out there) experience hypersensitivity to smells. Has anybody else had any similar experiences?

I recently learned that yet another way I differ from typical is that when I smell something artificially made to smell good (like perfume or room deodorants) the actual smell is fine, but I taste the ingredients as though I was drinking it from the bottle. I can actually like the smell and hate the taste. I guess NTs mostly just smell odors. Its so gross! Please dont fart around me!!

Recently my daughter had on some perfume and it did not make me retch. I asked her about it and she said it was from a line of edible products. I was fine with it. I will even let her get in my car without rolling down all the windows and stop for red lights.

I am hearing and vision sensitive too, but it gets better with old age and diminishing auditory and visual input - also I can just remove my glasses if eye contact too intense. My vestibular system has improved with age so I can go on rides, etc - but I still cant skate or ski

I am touch insensitive. My pediatrician always bragged I was the ONLY baby in decades of practice who never cried when getting shots.

I'm quite sensitive to smells, sounds and taste...

Smells:
one of the worst is cheese, especially the stronger ones. Once I was with my parents in a lime pit, which was used to ferment cheese... I could smell the stuff from the entrance, but getting too close to the part of the pit where the cheese was germenting made me gag. It's most prominent with stronger cheeses, but also cheesecakes etc.. I rarely eat other cheeses than havarti (except on pizza etc.) and some of the spreadable varieties, like those with spices and herbs mixed in.
Another one is mustard... I can smell that stuff in the next room, even if it's a milder variety
Perfume/eau de toilette/aftershave is pretty bad for me, especially in a small, confined environment like a car. When I was smaller i'd usually get sick of it, especially when combined with car sickness, vomiting was inevitable... even on a nearly empty stomach.
Baby poop is also one of the worst for me... it'd be hard to picture myself changing diapers without vomiting... I gag from it even when sitting in the next room... sorry future wife, it'll be your job :)

Tastes:
Again, cheese... I hate the smell and I can't stand the taste of the stronger ones.
Licorice is one that has popped up in recent years. It always tastes a bit too strong for me, I tend to stick with licorice root and "spejdersnus"(translation: boyscout snuff), which is licorice root powder.
Mint is also one of the recent years, especially in toothpaste... Mint candies and toothpaste with lots of mint just burns my tongue and I can barely taste anything BUT mint for hours afterwards

Sounds:
Especially high-pitched sounds catch my attention, like whining CRT tubes and projectors. One example is the projector in my class, noone else but me can hear the whining noise it makes when it starts up.
Some alarm clocks, especially those of the loud beepy variety give me an instant headache, thus I tend to stick with cellphones or clockradios.

I think my allergies dull my sense of smell, but I still get headaches from chemical smells like cologne, smelly soaps and cleaning products, as well as cigarette smoke. I'm more sensitive to sound and light though.

My sense of smell is very sensitive, for better or for worse.

On one hand, I'm intolerant of human and animal body odours, and can feel overwhelmed when exposed to particularly strong varieties.

On the other hand, I find certain smells to be a great means of escape when I'm on the verge of a meltdown. My favourite would be the scent of a stuffed toy that I've had since early childhood, which I used to inhale for up to an hour upon coming home from school, usually in order to ease stress. (The scent in question, of course, is probably that of the sweat that comes off of my hands as I hold it.)

I don't get nauseous, but I do have a sensitive smell. If someone is cooking something on the other side of the house I can smell it.

The smell I am most sensitive to is the smell of bananas. Surely, if the devil exists, he himself created the vile fragrance of this thing. Everyone I am close to knows how to drive me out of a room by peeling a banana.

I thought there wasn't any smell worse than that of a banana. Well, I was wrong. My grandma likes to get bananas, wait until they turn black, then microwave them.

Now, the scent of a banana can fill a whole room, and I can usually smell it from one or two rooms away.

But not when you microwave a banana that has turned. That unholy, putrid odor infects the entire house, and it's 10x worse than a regular banana! I almost hurled when it wafted into my nostrils. I was hungry and I couldn't even get out of my room because it was everywhere.

When I tell my grandma that the smell makes me nauseated, she just says, "you're being silly."

I strongly dislike perfume smells. Women that wear perfume tend to make me gag. Horrible stuff. I hate those department stores that have a perfume section at the entrance and I hurry through there holding my breath as much as possible. Why do women want to smell like toilet freshener?

The worst for me is the smell of dishes that have been left to soak after dinner. I always wash dishes in cold water as the hot water seems to make the smell worse.
