Well I always say, to each their own, most people think some of the stuff I have and want are really, weird and out there. Who cares, as long as your not hurting anyone else, and in this case you're certainly not. You are an adult and should be able to do what makes you feel good!
Im super-weird Auntblabby...we shall be super weird and enjoy our super weirdness  . Super Weirdos unite!

10% of body weight for a blanket is a misnomer - it came about due to the lack of research on weighted blankets so OT's and others just took the research done on backpacks - supporting weight in a standing position - and used that as a guideline. Turns out it's wrong. Tina Champagne, an OT in Mass, did a few studies on weighted blankets and found much heavier weights were effective and safe. Disclosure here... we make weighted blankets... there are guidelines that we've given on our website - Sommerfly - based on years of experience in a clinic by our OT -she also designed all the products with new innovative designs. These work for the majority of the people. If you have an OT talk with them but also refer to the Tina Champagne studies because not a lot of people know about them yet - it's just starting to get around that for years the wrong information was being used...?!
