When I was in reform school they made us shower twice a day and only allowed us to have 3 minutes in the shower. It was horrible.

Then they wondered why my hygiene wasn't good when I barely even had time to wash in the shower. A lot of the girls there had short hair so it was easier for them. It's not really possible to wash a body and long thick hair in three minutes. I had to wet my hair and fake it once a day and only wash my body one time and my hair the other because there was no way I could have done both. They expected me to though.

At one point they used my "poor hygiene" as an excuse to watch me shower and now I'm thinking that they were just pervs. The main one that did that actually left later and was rumored to have been fired for not giving a girl a towel to hide behind when she stripped when she was admitted. When you first get there you had to undress in front of them but they give you a towel to hide behind.

It's not like there was anyone to complain to. The ombudsman that was supposed to visit once a month to hear complaints came only once during the 8 months I was there.

That would be rough. I've had to take showers in an institutional setting with someone keeping an eye on me, I couldn't imagine twice daily.

We did have separate shower stalls and weren't showering in one big room like in some sexy reform school/prison Cinemax movie. They still did watch me for a while though. Not all the staff did that though, only two. The one that I was supposed to go to if I had problems (we were all assigned a staff member for that) just had me poke my head out so they could see that I had shampoo on my hair.

Nah, I always space out and just enjoy the soothing steam and hotwater. In a way, when I take a shower, I go blank.

The shower/bathing isn't the problem for me. I like the hot water and steam (makes my head feel better, I have sinus problems) and I don't like feeling dirty or being afraid that I have an odor. But getting out is awful. I hate being cold and wet more than almost anything I can think of.

^ This is how I feel about bathing. I buy some really nice bath salts, powder, bubble bath etc to make the bath really nice. My favourite at the moment is apple pancake scented bath powder and chocolate brownie scented bath salts.

I also really love lush bath bombs, the colours, scent etc make baths more enjoyable (when they work, the quality with lush is a bit hit and miss at the moment).

I also like really hot showers that fill the bathroom up with steam and again I get nice smelling things to make it a more pleasant experience. at the moment I have a candy cane scented body sugar scrub and a black forest cake scented bodywash followed by a blueberry cheescake scented body cream.

I do however hate having to wash my hair and find it such a chore and uncomfortable so I use dry shampoo and wash my hair once a week (or every 10 days).

I dislike showering or taking a bath, but I have to do it pretty much every day. I'll skip a day here and there if I'm just too tired, or I'm sick, or I haven't gotten dirty at all, but usually I shower or take a bath at night. I wash my hair about once or twice a week. Even though I dislike showering or bathing, I have to just make myself do it. The discomfort is only for a few minutes and the benefits far outweigh that.

As for showering in institutional settings, I was in jail before and we had terrible showers. When I was in the old jail, the women were kept in one large room with bunk beds here and there. There was a toilet and sink with a three foot high tile wall around it for "privacy". There was a shower stall with an old curtain on it, but no shower head, just the pipe and you only got cold water and just barely more than a trickle. When I was in the new jail we had a pod and cells. There was a shower room but you pushed a button and the water came out for 30 seconds, premixed to their temperature and it always started off cold.

Up until I was about 11, horrifying. Now, I must have one every morning, and evening too, if I've been playing sport.

I hate the idea of bathing (when you take a bath, you're marinating in your own filth, it's all in the water) but I shower at least once a day. Usually more than that, though.

When I take a bath what I like to do is soak for a long time in the bath and exfoliate good and then take a quick shower to rinse off anything clinging to me from the bath water.

Ah this is the source of a lot of my problems. I can't stand the thought of taking a shower... it's a battle with my girlfriend because she expects me to shower everyday. I know on a logical level that is what I'm supposed to do, but I can't make myself get in there. Once I'm in there I'm kind of ok... She usually stays in the bathroom with me or lets me take one of the dogs with me but I have to hurry and wash everything. It doesn't feel good to be in there with the loud water hitting me.

Wait what? The logic on this one is not sound. Shower every day?

I have very sensitive skin and shower every other day. So if I shower Monday, I shower Wednesday, etc.

If I shower Tuesday then next shower is Thursday.

Why in the world do people expect people to shower every day? It dries out the hair and the skin and strips the skin of natural oils that protect the body, especially hair. Shampoo and to much showering dries out the hair and strips of it's natural oils. I shampoo my hair once a month because of that factor.

Unto the subject, I'm quite the opposite I love showers. I love the way the warm water feels. It isn't the getting in the shower that is the problem, it's the getting out. I hate being naked and wet and cold. I also don't really like the shower pressure stream on my face. But for the most part I love showers.

If I do take a bath (which I do sometimes, to be fair) I always need to shower afterwards or I feel disgusting.

I, like most Aspies I think, enjoy showers, and the sound of running water. I find it to be both pleasant, and relaxing. The sound of running water is soothing for me. However, after I'm done, and shut the water off, I will typicly start barking. I think because of the change in my surrounding enviroment.
