Sorry I haven't read the entire thread.

What do you want to go to College for?

I assume you're in America so College fees are quite expensive unless you have some sort of Scholarship.

Don't just go to College/University just coz lots of other people do it. Only try to apply if you have a more practical reason for going, like wanting to take a vocational course that's only available there.

Here in Australia, some people go to TAFE which is kinda like community college. They study there for a few years before transferring to Uni.

She certainly hasn't given " real world " details or PM-d me .

No, you would be expected to pm her. How far do you expect her to go? If she's serious, she's challenging you to make a series of risky moves to show that you are willing to put something behind your words and change the direction of your life. If you want to take a chance that one tiny step can change the direction of your snowball, you take the risk of pm'ing her and her laughing in your face if that is her choice. Nothing in this life comes completely for free. You have to take some risk and you have to DO something. Put one foot in front of the other and see what happens. Perhaps she is betting that you can't do it. It doesn't matter. It is up to you to show that you can. The worst thing that can happen? You fall flat on your face and get to keep complaining about how unfair life is.

...For one , someone who does not state where they are physically located is somewhat questionable .
She talks in a fairly combative manner , as well .
I HAven't Had time to read your entire post now...(IHAREP).........

I know she can get quite combative. My first interaction with her on these boards did not go well AT ALL. But I didn't give up; I accepted the false steps I had made, and felt something more was there with her that I was missing. And I was right. She's brilliant, generous and has a really good heart, but you aren't going to find her "easy" or sympathetic (Fixer_Girl, I hope you don't mind that description; I hope you know I have the utmost respect for you). She's not going to walk you through this. Not her style. Nor, I might suggest, what you need. I know where she is physically located but you ... you will have to ask. Like I said before, I don't know how serious she is, but I believe she is in a position to make good and, if I were in your shoes, I'd be hungry enough to take the risks and find out.

I posted that this could get interesting. I didn't say someone had just handed you the golden goose.

So. What do you want and what are you willing to risk to get there?

...I have read this post , IHAREP everything else post-myl ast post 8O :P , allow me , please , to be Mr. Literal and start out with this...
Were I to go elsewhere , I would of course need to clean up , put on some new clothes ,and , carrying a suitcase with at least a second pair of clothes and some necessities and something to read , take a plane or a bus to Whereverville .
How would this be paid for ?
Oh , and a person who handles themself "____Girl " stands a fairly good chance of being underage (or " just past " said stage , 18-25 , especially if an Aspie , after all , I guess )...Need I say more ?
Frankly , too , I don't have a lot of skills - Computers ? I am not a computer genius by virtue of being as Aspie , and even as far as typing I am not a " trained " typist ( I look at the board while typing :x . ) . Physical stuff - there's that " diabetic ulcer on the bottom of my feet " pesky thangwhich I've had , non-stop/close to it , for years , another manifestation of something that already led to 1/2 a toe being amputated and the usual warnings from the medical personell I've seen regarding the possibility for more...I am pointing all of this boringly practical stuff out , not trying to shoot it down 1005 .

I don't even know what a fire agate ring is. Besides it being a ring.

I tried one community college class but couldn't handle it after 2 or 3 classes. I tried a small non-credit course of about 5 or 6 people and didn't know what to say, or have anything to say, and didn't talk. I didn't go back.

I figured work is hard enough to deal with.

My counselor suggested online classes. I may look into that.

I don't have any advice.

ASS-P, I have more information than you do, but I'm not going to offer any more details than I have already offered. I believe part of this deal is for you to learn to take risks and see past road blocks. I'm guessing on that, of course; it's not my offer, and I may already have offered a bigger sales pitch than she's comfortable with. Read my posts regarding her carefully, including maybe one on another thread, to someone else. This is as far as I go.

OK, I've sat back and watched for a day, to see where you would go with this.

Let me start by saying that yes, initially it was a "Put up, or, Shut up" kind of deal.

However, I've had time to sleep on it, and speak with my family about this situation.

We - as a family - are completely willing to help you out if you are a fellow aspie that's fallen on hard times.

Regarding your concerns, let me address those now.

Location - I live in Virginia.

Transportation - I will drive to you, collect you and drive home again.

Accomodation - We have a room that you can use until you get on your feet.

Medical - I'm a qualified medical professional; I'll help you regulate your diabetic issues and also dress your wounds daily.

Future Education and Job prospects - My family and I will pay for you to go to school here, to study what you need to become a phlebotomist (you may have to google that). Now that's not a great job, however, you only have to take 3 classes to qualify, all of which can be completed in one semester. When you are qualified, you will earn pretty good money for a one semester trained field - around $30 - $40 an hour in our area. Once you have a job, you can find your own place and then you can go anywhere you want from there. If you wish to train further and become a registered nurse for example - you will have both the contacts and the money to do so.

So there you have it - the offer is there if you want it.

Now, that said, let's assume you are possibly not on the level. Let me detail how that situation will be handled. I'm former military. My husband is active service military. We have two daughters. If you feel that this is an opportunity to attempt to flees us, to fiddle with our kids, to burgle us for drug money, or any other severely illegal activity - be warned that I have a mossberg within arms reach while I sleep, and I would have no trouble blowing your brains all over the wall in defense of my family.

If you are on the level and need help, then my family is willing and able to help.

No, I'm not a nurse. I'm kind of a lot of things.

I'm an Engineer (mechanical, aeronautical, communications, media), I'm an EMT, I studied nursing at college. I'm a photographer, a bodyguard, an anti terrorist officer, hostage rescue, a transportation security specialist and a bunch of other military type stuff.

Right now, I'm throwing all that I have into Biomedical Engineering - to basically do some good and make a positive difference where I can.

I've done a lot, but, if I put what I've done in here, most wouldn't believe me.

Anyway, the offer is on the table if he wants it.

That's an amazing deal there.

I think I read you lived in Berkeley CA, here's a place where you can get breakfast if it's near you.

DW, no worries - you get what I was trying to say and I trust your judgment. Feel free to express whatever I say in a different way; it helps a lot for people to hear things in more than one tone.

Take Care

While we are on the subject of people falling on hard times, I'd like to point something out.

In my area, if you have a job (ANY JOB) and are volunteering with the fire department in your free time - usually one night a week - they (the fire dept) will let you live at the fire station for free.

That's a pretty fair deal don't you think?

That is a pretty kickass deal.

So, you could be a student and work part time for food...volunteer there one night a week.

You make life more hopeful for me.
