I second a photo calendar for cute aspie females, with a mix of assorted lingerie and geek paraphernalia side by side. (Just no dressing up as videogame characters, as this would carry too much association with "booth babes.")

I'll dress like a Mid 1960s Go Go Girl and stand in front of a Red Bus.

I'm probably going to get a lot of flak for this, but I think something like a swimsuit calender of Aspies might be a good thing. We're human beings, and for the most part sexuality is part of being human. I mean we aren't all Asexaul. Mind you I'd still say that it should be tasteful.

And as someone that believes in gender equality, I think an equally naughty calender should be made of men.

But it sounds like this might not be the sort of Calender.

I think we need to find ways to celebrate who we are.

Mind you I still think that anyone should be very cautious about doing something like this, and come to the realization that there probably are going to be people that do some pretty "inappropriate" things while looking at your picture.

Now that CockneyRebel has signed on I'm boosting my order to 200. I want
British troops to get some calenders also. Come on men get your dresses to support the war effort.

Ironic. I've had no problem expressing my disdain for the way you would like aspie women to be depicted. If you have a problem with being labelled a creep.. perhaps you need to grow a thicker skin instead of giving yourself an out by saying "You're just being PC!".

Nevertheless, I do appreciate your input as an aspie woman. However, it’s those nasty stereotypes about aspies that I would liberate all of us from.

I haven't really seen negative stereotypes about aspie women so you aren't doing us any favours by wanting to objectify us like mainstream women. Many aspies claim that our positive traits reside in our creativity, talent and perception.. yet when the subject of aspie women comes up it's usually about our sexuality. As women we have to deal with being minumalised by sexual ideals daily.. as aspie women it's worse because we have much more complex social limitations than NT women. We don't need anymore.

There may be women here who do modeling- and I think it's fine if they are doing it purely for their own individual expression- but not to fix a stereotype and not because of pressure from guys on a website thats meant to be gender friendly. If however the tall dark and handsome muscular guys here get together and pose for the camera, perhaps with a surfboard and a nice tan, or ripped jeans.. we may consider it.

Maybe calendars of the guys as urban sophisticates, the type that have made their perseverations into the items of envy. Whether it's the wine expert who memorizes each item in his collection, the sportsmaster who can bet on the next winner, etc. show the guys differences in as "sexy" a manner as possible; if Austin Powers could get away with it, so can you :D

Okay, if we’re going to do this, the first thing we’re going to need is a facilitator. As I have the necessary communication/organizational skills, I’m going to assume the role for the moment. I have no lust for power, and will readily accede the position to someone else that a significant number of people are comfortable with.

The next thing we’re going to need is an editorial committee. I think the committee should have no less than 3 nor more than 5 members. I’d like to nominate Alex, CockneyRebel, Solidess, and Juliekitty if they are willing to serve. I will not serve on the editorial committee as I have poor collaboration skills, and there have been some reasonable if misplaced concerns about my motivations.

The committee’s first responsibility will be to develop submission guidelines. I’d like to suggest something along the lines of “representative of the diversity and capability of aspies and auties and other people with atypical neurology.”

A decision will also have to be made as to who will benefit form the proceeds. If necessary, I’m sure we can start our own foundation.

Please send me your nominations for the editorial committee. You may nominate yourself. I will contact nominees for consent to serve. Alex, can a poll be set up that members can only participate in once? If so, that would be ideal. If not, we’ll go another way.

Participation in this project is strictly voluntary. If you wish to protest this project, please feel free, but I would appreciate it very much if you would do so in a new thread. If you express yourself eloquently and thoughtfully enough, you may succeed at influencing public opinion here at WP.

Thanks to everybody for his or her input, positive and negative alike. Let’s show the world and ourselves what we aspies are really capable of when we collaborate.

-Thanks again,
Mark

I'm impressed with how quickly you were able to come up with the guidelines and details for something that was supposedly spur of the moment. Have you done this before? Commitees and nominations, even starting our own foundation for proceeds.. I wish you luck with this. I will be interested in seeing how it pans out.. and interested to see if you can actually get 12 women to send pics.. the aspergers kind of makes some women camera shy so I think you may hit a brick wall there.

Oh yes I forgot, isn't aspergers more common in males [4/1?]? They are the ones that would suffer from negative stereotyping because of it. Having women in it then would make no difference fixing this perception. If you create a male calender, I would be quite happy to judge them. I know you requested that people protest it in a new thread.. but I really only wanted to make one more post. I also don't think the idea really warrents another thread.

Riley-

Thanks again for your input. I’ve never done this before, but one of my strengths is that I know how things get done. This is a sometimes a liability at work because when I come up with ideas, other people get hung up on the details and other minutia and it’s very frustrating for me. I personally favor 6 women and 6 men, but we could do 4 women and 8 men, or if we get a lot of response we could do two calendars. It’s up to the editorial committee.

You’ve expressed suspicion about my motivations so I feel like it’s reasonable for me to be suspicious of your intentions. It’s possible that your motivation for wanting to be on the editorial committee is to sabotage the project. Nevertheless, if you wish to formally nominate yourself, I’ll make sure that you get on the ballot. It’s not my project. It’s our project.

Donkey-

It’s okay that you think that I’m creepy. What people thought of me used to upset me, but I got over it and I’m feeling much better now. I learned that what people think and feel about others says a lot about the people, but not much about the others.

-Thank-you for your support,
Mark

Savotage? No. It is not reasonable for you to doubt my intentions. I did not start a thread suggesting women pose in lingerie or swimsuits pretending that it's somehow healthy for them and not against net ettiquette. "Oh but they wouldn't be nudes!" If you hadn't have mentioned preffered outfits [is that with or without stilletos?] I may not have cared.

'Our project'? Yet YOU can make sure I formally get on a ballot? Really? You'd do that? Oh how nice it is to know people in high places.

Of course now that you've accused me of planning to savotage it.. I can't volunteer for it. Nice tactic.

So.. I will instead.. boycott it. :) You're motivations are obvious and if you again try to spin it around trying to make out like I am the one with who has it wrong I will again tell it the way it is.

Mr mark, you have come up with an idea and basked in the controversy that it has created , generating your own responses to continue the thread, i and others have thought that the idea is a creepy one, others have individually messaged me to express their concern about your motives, you sit there and attempt to turn others neative suggestions int o witty little backhanders, what people think about you has a lot to do with you, do you not get this?
when you come up with creepy, look at me attention seekign ideas then that determines what pther think of you. i get the impression you are well versed in annoyign people and used to responding in an underhanded manner. i was mild with you before, you want to play?
your a creep , you dont want to make a calendar, you want attention adn to be a perve?
this aint about me, it is about you?
gottit?
creep?

i'll give you till january to ,make your caledar. then if it isnt made i will gloat in my assesment of you
viz: a creep and a perve.
go on do tell me what this says about me when you want to perve on others photos
hows that wprking out for you?

I think your ideas are a little bit too much.
