Mild, Moderate or Severe Sensory Issues?
A question, is it possible to become less sensitive in an area and more sensitive in another with time?
In order of sensitivity:
1. Sound: Mostly with certain types of usually not loud sounds and noises intended as music like commercial radio broadcasts/commercials. Loud "music" at stores and venues irritate me. Loud speech.
2. Smell: cigarette smoke, smell of garlic, I could be chased outta world by them... Some parfumes are unpleasant.
3. Taste: Now I can tolerate many of the foods I refused before. I can sense what doesn't taste or feel good, but since I'm foody, I don't care much todays.
4. Touch: Moderate, mostly with kisses and handshakes.
5. Sight: Bright light bother me, although I don't like to wear sunglasses either, since they alter my vision a way it causes me an unpleasant feeling.

I have very little sensory issues. Its not much different then being a slightly more sensative NT
Sound: Mild sensatvity, cant stand beeps, rings, squeking, alarms, any sound thats annoying to NTs is slightly intensified with me. Oh yeah hate clocks ticking.
Touch: Very very mild, dont like small pieces of dirt rocks in my shoes or pants. Dislike some fabrics.
Taste, Sight: None
Smell: Hyposensativity. My smell is weak, I can tolerate alot that other people cant. I can walk past a homeless guy and smell nothing. I need to take out the trash for my job, i dont smell much thankfully.
It's a toss up between sight & sound as being the most sensitive.
Sound: severe
I am most comfortable with constant white noise, especially while sleeping, I absolutely need white noise to sleep.
I am constantly distracted by all the background noises around me. And sudden loud noises cause a physical jolt to my body. Barking dogs, crying babies & vacuum cleaners are the worst.
When I was 11, a cousin of mine shot me in the eye with a spitball from a bb gun, putting me in the hospital with patches on my eyes for several days. in that time I trained myself to "see" my environment with my ears, as a result I have really good positional tracking of sounds.
I find high frequencies the worst, almost to the point of pain. But I really enjoy low frequencies.
Sight:severe
I hate the summertime because of the excessive sunlight, the glare everywhere is blinding. I keep my environment rather dark, and I can navigate very well in low light conditions. I find darkness comforting and secure.
Touch:moderate to severe
I can't stand when someone touches me lightly. and I jump if touched unexpectedly.
Also, I strictly only wear cotton, everything else bothers me.
Internally, I feel everything going on inside my body. Some foods I don't like because of the way they digest.
Sexually, with the right person, my sense of touch can be a source of great pleasure
Smell:moderate
I have a really keen sense of smell for a smoker (many of you would not be able to be around me)
Sometimes I think that maybe I smoke as a shield against unwanted smells.
I am particularly sensitive to strong food smells, they make me nauseous. I could never work in a kitchen.
many perfumes, colognes and dogs smell really bad to me. Especially dog smell.
Taste:mild
Food really is just a necessary chore to me. I don't get much out of it. I prefer really spicy things maybe because I can't distinguish subtle flavors.
Proprioception(the sense of the relative position of neighboring parts of the body and strength of effort being employed in movement):poor
I am very physically clumsy and awkward. I do terrible at pretty much every sport. I'm surprised I haven't cracked my head open yet getting in and out of the shower. And it's a miracle I haven't poked myself in the eye with my own fork.

Sound: Mild. There are some sounds I don't like, but they're loud sounds that even annoy some NT's.
Sight: Severe. Any bright light practically blinds me!
Touch: Mild. I get annoyed with stones in my shoes.
Smell: None.
Taste: Mild. I don't like spicy foods, but that's it.
So in order of sensitivity, from least to most:
Smell
Touch
Taste
Sound
Sight

Sound: Severe. I cannot tolerate many sounds to the point where I end up screaming in pure anger from hearing the sound. Background noise is the worst as I cannot filter it out at all.
Sight: Moderate. I can go places without sunglasses but I get very 'dazed' expressions on my face because I can't always focus on one thing. I find bright colours overwhelming and I HATE HATE HATE fluorescent tube lights. I go into a strange trance when I see bright lights like lava lamps and those UFO lamps but I find that quite comforting.
Taste: Mild. Although certain things bother me with taste, especially spicy foods, generally I do not have much problem with this. I used to eat some bizarre things as a kid...
Touch: Moderate. I can't really tolerate being touched, rubbing against someone or being prodded. I go completely stiff when someone hugs me and I try to get away. I don't like the majority of clothes on the market and when I find a set that I can tolerate I buy several of the same! I feel a lot more pain than the majority of people as well as my skin picks up a light touch as painful.
Smell: Mild. I am more hypo-sensitive to smell then hypersensitive. There are certain smells though that can make me wretch, like sewage, the blocked drain under our kitchen and the time someone spilt milk in our car and no one noticed for two weeks! bleaugh...

I don't have any sensory issues. I can go wherever I want and do as I please with no problem. I never have overload meltdowns in public.
Okay, so really, it's tough just to leave my apartment. But I wanted to see how it felt to pretend I didn't have any sensory issues, just for a minute. I'm so sensitive to fluorescent lights that I have to wear big, ugly sunglasses and if I don't, I get physically sick. I hit or shove when people go to touch me (watch it, doctor...). Not to be overly descriptive, but it's a challenge to keep clothing on (don't worry, I do fine in public, it's just torture) because they hurt.
I'm getting used to it though.
sound the most
i have to have my sound blocking headphones alot.

my picture is my ear defenders that i wear all the time. pictured is silencio earmuff, l1 howard leight, i also own 12 howard leight (not pictured) .
sound - i go crazy over noises when i'm home. every little sound makes me jump. too much noise and i'm stressed and depressed. i need absolute silence. outside of home noise bothers me less, maybe because i can walk away.
sight - not really, except maybe bright light hurt my eyes.
smell - my sense of smell is very weak
touch - when i sit on the sofa i put my feet on an overturned garbage can because the cat likes to sit on my lap longer this way, although it's not all that comfortable to me. i put a pillow over the gabrage can under my feet and it bothers me horribly, the pillow really irritates me when it touches my skin. sometimes i can't stand it.
taste - can't eat chocolate or candies or jelly or most sweet stuff because it's extremely sweet and it's torture to eat it. my neices asked me to taste their salad and i asked if it's spicy. they said just a bit. i took a tiny bite and almost choked to death. i eat meatballs in tomato sauce and it's not spicy or hot at all, but it feels to me like it is. real spicy feels like fire.
Sound: Mild - unexpected noises (or sometimes expected ones if they're loud enough) will make me jump and if I'm already anxious then continuous noise will make it worse.
Sight: Mild - I have to wear sunglasses when I go outside otherwise I have to close my eyes or I get a headache and sore eyes.
Touch - No issues. I don't like strangers touching me but who does? I also have a very high pain threshold.
Smell - No issues. I don't tend to smell things that others don't, but I will dislike smells that others aren't bothered by.
Taste - No issues. I have tastes that I like and tastes that I don't like, just like everyone else.
Sound: moderate, sounds of transport on roads does my nut in along with the blowing gales and that kind of thing really irritate me.
Taste: mild - rich foods I dislike
Smell: some smells like perfumes and strong cooking smells can make me feel nauseous.
Sight: mild to moderate, florescent lights can be very annoying.
Touch: when people brush past me or gently touch me on the shoulder it can be painful and send shivers down my spine, but I can deal with hugs, I don't get it

Sound: None. I can easily handle things that are loud like rock concerts and fireworks going off. However, I can't stand whispering, especially in a quiet room.
Sight: mild, I only hate REALLY bright light like when the sun is in your eyes while taking a picture
Touch: mild to Moderate, I can easily feel dry skin and hair ticking me, which annoys me greatly as well as the-quarter or long sleeves which are a bit too short. However, I love getting hugs but don't touch certain areas of my back because I have little or no feeling form them from surgery years ago. It just feels really weird unless I'm expecting it like someone helping me putting sunscreen on it.
Smell: Mild. Only really strong smell get to me like when someone is riding their brakes down a hill or when my dad smokes nearby.
Taste: Mild. I can't handle spicy foods or food that is especially very sweet or salty.
Sound - severe: (loud sounds, repetitive sounds, background noises, chatter, screaming kids, can cause crash/meltdown/shutdown or panic attacks)
Sight - severe: (commotion/movement, bright fluorescent lights, lots of bright lights at night, can cause crash/meltdown/shutdown or panic attack)
Touch - moderate: (no labels on my clothes, can't wear necklaces or rings, must wear loose clothing, like being barefooted/can't stand socks, dislike being touched, hugged, patted, even my wife can't touch my face, etc)
Smell - moderate/severe: (strong cooking smells at home, strong laundry detergents and fabric softeners (I have to use mild soap and no softeners), overdone perfume/cologne, can cause crash/meltdown/shutdown or panic attacks)
Taste - none really
