I wish to revise my answer. She killed her sister over the inheritance, but told her new husband this was how in love with him she was and she would just keep killing people until they got married (he married her immediately after that). Then she explained it to the judge, who was a hopeless romantic, hoping to get a light sentence. It backfired, but that's the tale that ended up in the papers.

I pretty much just read this:

couple meets at a funeral, she wants to meet again, _________, She kills someone

And to that the answer seemed obvious, yet I just said "she wanted another funeral", and would probably answer the same even if they were not related. The thousands of reasons why this would not work don't seem to matter, most people seem to plan poorly anyway, you are just trying to fill in the bank to make a complete thought.

To be an actual test for psychopathy though, don't you have trap someone into generating such a plan themselves and see how long it takes, not just jump the gap in someone else's logic.

Yup - I got it but instantly questioned the flawed sequential logic of it... obviously there would have to be something more dynamic going on for a sister to kill a sister...

I kind of hate this because I can do the same thing with movies and tv shows - in the first 5 minutes I can see where the plot setup is leading. I always know whodunit. This is why I LOVED the Matrix when it first came out. That big monkey wrench on the plot THRILLED me because not only did no one seeing it coming, I didn't see it either - it seriously broke some of the NT brains in the theater though. Even angered some. I usually only go to movies for the big effects or mindless violence - I'll never pay for a drama or a comedy because they are predictable and boring. I kind of envy that sometimes... not knowing whats coming...

I really don't believe most neurotypicals don't "get" this. Maybe they would be less likely to say the answer out loud, or search for other possibilities first, but IMO, they wouldn't be SO emotionally invested in a question like this that they would be rendered incapable coming up with the logical answer.

I got it immediately...I didn't really consider any other options, maybe that's something most NT's would do, I don't know, but I just don't believe the most people in general couldn't get the answer for this question.

Exactly. The logic involved in it isn't about whether or not it's a logical conclusion to come to if you're in that position yourself (of course it isn't). It's about the logic involved in the problem itself, regardless of right/wrongs etc.

Person X has only ever met Person Y at Event A, therefore Person X tries to meet Person Y again by....? Creating another Event A

I'm pretty sure most normal people would never think that was the best way of going about this problem

It should still be obvious that that was the point

I think DandelionFireworks initial response would be the "right" answer.

I don't think there really is a right answer. This seems more like a short scenario where someone came up with an arbitrary answer, and said it was the right one, when there could very well be other answers which someone could have said was the "right" answer.

I'm not even sure this was a riddle. It looks like this is usually claimed as some sort of a psych test when it's asked.

Snopes says this came to life in May 2002.

and a low probability that the man would love the woman back, since she's a murderer.

she didn't think this one through very carefully, did she, eh?
