I love to shop but I hate shopping for food after I get off work because I'd rather go home and have my free time for the rest of the day rather than spending it in the store so I do it after i get off work when I'm off the next day. I hate shopping for bras and hate shopping for certain clothes I need because it's a hassle to look through everything. And one thing I hate is I go to this second hand store and I hate having to wait for assistance for one of them to bring down those SNES games or NES or take out anygame from the glass window I want to look at. There are only two guys who work there and they can't hire more employees because then it cost them more money so i deal with it or I leave. I also hate long lines when buying something.

The snack shop at school is attended by this lady who freaks me out. She gives everyone a look as if she loathed them all and were waiting for revenge. I'm afraid of buying there alone since one time she stared at me, apparently meaning "Whaddya want?", only I didn't get the meaning.

I get this feeling about some staff at Sainsbury's, it made me afraid of being served by certain staff, and it's one of the things that put me off Sainsbury's which I used to love so much.

It's not just Sainsbury's; if it happened at any store, I may be reluctant to shop there.

Grocery shopping is fine as long as I have someone wiht me who will guide me through the shop (I'm blind so I can't find my way on my own). But I can't stand shopping where it's unclear wha tyou will buy, such as clothes/shoes shopping...can't stand the going from store to store without knowing if/when I will find what I need.

I like to go in, get what I need and get out.

But sometimes, if I'm bored, I LOVE wandering around in book and music and thrift stores. Of course with my headphones on. That's the only way it is tolerable.

It depends. I'm used to shopping in markets, because if I don't go to shop, I'll be hungry. But I don't like it.

I don't like shops with clothes and shoes.
I like shops like Media Markt, Empik, Castorama, Praktiker. I don't like parfums, but I like drugstores like Rossmann.

I despise shopping, especially clothes shopping, and I either buy my clothes online or else sew them myself. Grocery shopping isn't too bad, since I need to do it all the time, and because I cook, and have a keen interest in what goes into my food. Wandering around a mall? NEVER!!

Amen!! !

Wal-Mart doesn't bother me (though I know a lot of people hate it)...I like observing people, and I think I like all the activity. (Contrary to some of you, it's small noises in silence that drive me batty, whereas a place with a lot of activity--I don't like being there for long stretches, but in reasonable doses, I do even though when it comes to talking to people, I still feel as awkward as ever.)

But if it involves clothes or God forbid, shoes, I HATE HATE HATE going and practically have to be dragged. And women are supposed to love that kind of thing...but I HATE it.

The only thing that can make a shopping trip fun is if it's a family outing, and my dad gets dragged into it too. Sometimes the two of us conspire to make my mom crazy. ;)

I like shopping. I don't like trying on clothes.

I don't live in a huge city though, so there aren't a ton of people around in the stores. I wouldn't like that. And I don't like the music in the stores, either. I often leave because they keep the temperature too warm (in the store). Mostly I like shopping at places that have things I'm interested in (love love love the bookstore and pet shops).

I definately don't like shopping if it's something I have to do. However, if I decide to go shopping and there's something that I feel like I want or need, then I don't mind it, and sometimes it can even be fun. For me, it's all about the reason I'm having to do something.

OP, getting overstimulated while shopping can be a spectrum response.

I don't particularly enjoy it and go infrequently, but I do like having cool clothes. So, I just go to one or two stores and have to keep the trip short. I also have to go alone. Except for food - my husband has to lead the way or all I'll get is the weird vegetable from a far off land and a can of lotus nuts. I usually just follow him through the store and oooh and ahh at chocolates and soap. Whole Foods is the only grocery store I can handle because the lighting is easier on the soul.

I guess it depends on where I go. I tend to like tinkering around the aspects of my life and gaining new crappy material possessions that ultimately mean nothing, so sometimes I enjoy shopping for that reason. Grocery shopping can get annoying quickly, though, and for a lot of the same reasons that you listed. I love walking around town and shopping that way, though. :)

I prefer shopping online, as well.

Girls can hate shopping, too. I keep putting off new shoes because i don't want to go shopping for them. I used to really really hate shopping. Now I just see it as a necessity and try to make it quick, like a band-aid.
