I was laying on the center section of our sectional couch---Mom was on one end and Dad on the other. It was late at night. The storm was terrible and the electric went out. It was pitch black except for the near constant lightning. The three of us slept the night on the couch. When I was a child I explained this memory to my parents, and they said there was only one time we slept on the couch---when I was around six months old during a terrible storm.

Does that mean u remember something from when u were only 6 months old?? Fascinating!

Yes, that is my earliest memory. It is a very clear memory. It's a memory I have always had, but I cannot recall what my next earliest memory is.

I can remember being at the foot doctor to get corrective shoes when I had just begun walking (around 1-2 years old when I got the corrective shoes). I can remember going with Mom and Dad to shop for a new car when I was 3 years old. Also when I was 3 years old I remember clearly a tornado that struck nearby. I have vivid memories of vacations back when I was 3 years old. I can remember the first day of kindergarten getting on the bus.

To me, a violent, loud thunderstorm with sudden high wind and hail, is better than s*x ! !! !! !

Speaking of thunderstorms, there's one here now, right when I am getting the aluminum trim put on my house! Hasn't rained in weeks and boom, here it is, on the day stuff is going on outside.

It seems to be a love or hate thing with thunderstorms- you either love them or you don't!

Personally I do actually love thunderstorms, when I'm curled up in my room, as the sound of heavy rain. It makes me feel somehow seperate from the rest of the world and actually quite safe.

I LOVE thunderstorms, I'm living in Texas right now and it hasn't really rained in 2 months, I can't wait to get back east where it actually rains.

Really? Which part of Texas do you live in? We had thunderstorm sort of thing yesterday here in Austin.

About an hour and a half west of Dallas.

I used to be terrified of them, and things were much worse when we moved to Florida (the thunderstorm capital of the world). Fortunately I got over the fear about a year or so later. Today I quite enjoy them, unless I'm out in the rain getting drenched, especially if the lightning is close

It sounded like we were going to get a thunderstorm about 40 minutes ago, but I guess it went away.

I can remember being fascinated with the Enchanted Tiki Room at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom when I was a child---the lights dimmed and through the windows into the magical scenery was a thunderstorm along with volcanic eruptions. Wow---that was cool. I found it so cozy to watch that simulation.

As I became a teenager I got interested in collecting house plans. There was one plan I loved---a Spanish hacienda that encircled a swimming pool and lush landscaping. Just a few years ago I got the blueprints for it. If I ever became fortunate enough to build it, I would enclose that area with a sunroof and make it an environmental simulation area. It could simulate storms, etc.---just like the Enchanted Tiki Room. With all the numerous windows in the house looking out into this area, it would be so cool to simulate various weather events like storms.

I really like thunderstorms, so long as they don't have an extremely long duration (ex. 4 days)

Lightning is weird when it strikes that close. It sounds less like lightning and more like a bomb going off.

Like this one I got standing in the doorway to my balcony. Fast forward to the 8 minute mark. Ieeee! Yikes! 8O

If only I'd gotten the actual bolt in the frame. There were two others at least as close that I didn't record because I ran inside after the first. I have no idea where they actually hit. Surprised because in the past when it's hit that close I've always been able to find evidence nearby in the form of a bark-stripped tree or destroyed transformer.

I love them. I just don't want to be out in them is all. Sure the chances of getting struck by lightning is less than winning the lottery but I am afraid of rolling that dice. I even found out you can still get struck by lightning indoors. 8O
