Seconded. As for normal parties... I am not sure what exactly their point is. I feel like an alien there....

I think the point of parties is to please people who enjoy:
1.- small talk
2.- crowded rooms
3.- loud music (the odds of liking the music they happen to play is small.)
Those of us who hate those things, hate parties.
(BTW congratulations. You are one of the few who use "their" and "there" correctly. I mention this because of what you said in your quote section. Apparently, studying English as a second language means that you have, in fact studied English. )

Sounds like the parties extroverts enjoy.
I don't like those either. And I don't throw those sorts of parties.
My parties include a nice buffet in the dining room. Hang out and chat if you want. Don't if you don't want.
The living room is where we set up the game tables. Any game you like is fine. Some games are quieter, like chess. Others more ridiculous, like Munchkin. It varies. Observe if that's what interests you. You won't be considered weird in the crowd I hang with.
The family room is where the bigger tv is, so someone usually has a videogame going.
The study is available if you'd like something quiet. Grab any book and have a read anywhere you like. Talk or not talk. No one will be offended.
If the weather is decent I have the front and back yards landscaped in a way that provides relaxing outdoor "rooms" that support the native flora and fauna. Please go for a walk and enjoy.
People come and go as they like. Really it's more like an open house than an "Arrive at 8pm ish, get blasted, we'll have such loud music there will be no point in anyone talking" sort of party.
I don't like typical parties, so I decided years ago I might as well host ones I do like.
If there was something in a gathering that would make you inclined to go, what might that be? I ask because maybe there's something else I need to try and include.

You should see what passes for an education in the U.S. these days. We took our daughter out of HS to homeschool her when we discovered her 10th grade history class was having her draw pictures for a "project" instead of, oh, researching some topic and writing a paper. Her English class required her to read 2 books per year and write absolutely nothing about it or anything else. She could barely construct a functional paragraph. And the books she was required to read are "inspirational young adult" trash that will be lost in the dustbin of literary history. Her mathematics teacher was not able to teach the subject. Oh, and gym class required no actual physical activity, unless you count gin rummy on the bleachers as "exercise."
And that's the best school in our state? No wonder we're consistently 49th or 50th.
I usually go to parties absolutely starving, then I can use most of the time filling up with food and drinks. I eat very slowly so that can take a long time. Sometimes I volunteer to be the photographer or something and snap pictures of everyone else. Or I may offer to help the host to prepare food or clean up. So to me party is all about food. If someone had a decent conversation with me that's a perk, but not required. I almost never ask what their name is, it's not like I can remember anyway.

By the standards of most people I know that wouldn't be a party, but I would be absolutely delighted to go to one. For my next birthday I'll order pizza, gather some friends, buy some beers (not in an amoun that can get anyone intoxicated) and play a Role Playing Game such as Call of Cthulhu. Music: will be used to set up the ambience and in no way in a volume that interferes with normal speaking voice.

+1
I enjoy games and most of the things you offer. I would enjoy going to your "anti-parties."
I am going to resist going too far off topic about US public schools. Maybe you could start another thread.
