Somebody jabbed me in the arm while putting makeup on the other day without recognizing it, while I was seated on BART. What would you do in this situation?

I would do what I always do. Withdraw and try to minimize contact. It's gotten confrontational before if I try to say something. I don't know how. Especially because my first thoughts are how stupid it is to put on makeup in public. Can't stand the smells of some of the products and the creams are the worst.

So, if I start off being offended, it never ends well. I just do not know how to communicate that so I just withdraw and keep reminding myself that I will be getting off soon.

People putting makeup on in public are annoying as are people walking while texting or looking down at their phones.

I find all of that annoying...very....very...annoying.

The only time I get enjoyment out of it is when someone runs into something or falls into a fountain. Nothing bad. Just enough to make it funny.

Bu, I have the annoying habit of stopping walking when I talk to people let alone read and text. I have to force myself to keep talking while walking. When I was young, I would have to stop walking to talk. Took a lot of people complaining about it for me to keep trying to walk and talk. Still not good at it. It is a physical struggle to keep walking.

Edit: Oddly enough, I pace like a fiend when on the phone.

edit again: (I keep thinking of things...sorry.....) And, when I pace, I work a pattern of footsteps based on the tile structure or rug patterns. I have a very set pattern on the floor tiles in my house.

I absolutely hate it when people stand/sit too close to me. Then you move back a bit and then they inch closer to you. WTF?

Omg I hate when people do that-- inch closer after I have stepped away! One time I physically put a chair between me and the guy. Some people have no feel for personal space!

That reminds me of that person behind you in a queue who stands too close. You shift forward 20 centimetres to get away from them, they move forward 40 centimetres and breathe on the back of your neck. The best way I've found to deal with it is to casually keep one leg stretched back, as far as possible without looking stupid or overbalancing, so that at least they can't get too close to your upper body.

That sounds similar to putting my arm at my side if somebody is hitting my thigh or anywhere South of the top of my head. I would rather have some control over where I'm touched if it can't be helped. Rubbing against my side or thigh is gonna piss me off.

Be glad you're not in a country where there is no personal space. It's really not easy.

I hate when people ask me how I'm doing. It's a very common question in this country. That's not easy, either.

Just part of the social contract. I don't let those things bother me. They usually aren't paying attention anyway.

It seems like it doesn't bother you.

What specifically doesn't bother me?
