I did NOT mean to offend, Sorry!

OK, maybe I have dyspraxia TOO! I don't trust my fine motor skills 100%. The place I am working for had a LOT of people playing ping pong. I USED to play it, and tennis, etc.... Not VERY well, but not embarrasing. STILL, it HAS been long enough that I decided to bow out. That is one reason I never went out for sports and another reason I try to give myself PLENTY of space in the car. I EVEN do things like turn on my hazards(When I have tailgaters) to limit tailgating, etc....

STILL, luckily, driving a car doesn't generally require that much dexterity.

As for the ADHD, that MIGHT be basically a way of describing the zoning out. Sometimes, my concious mind is kind of somewhere else, and my subconcious does the driving. It has been that way with a LOT of things I do, ever since I was a kid! It is almost like when I rode a horse, and decided to let IT do the driving! It went right back to the stables for lunch! IN FACT, if I go onto some roads, I have to have a CLEAR idea of where to go! If I went on the 101 to go to numero UNO, for example, and didn't think about it, I would end up at WORK! Same direction, same freeway, only work is about 20 more miles. LUCKILY, if that happens, I almost ALWAYS zone back, just as I miss the stop, and have to navigate back. I doubt anyone would call me hyperactive, but then I wouldn't call a lot of ADHD diagnosed people hyperactive.

BTW I have AD ANYWAY, because of my mothers inane chatter. She could talk about her biggest problems for hours on end, and I don't DARE leave. SO, I developed the ability to not listen. If I had it to do over again, I would walk out, and try to get ear plugs for when she complained that I didn't listen, because I find I don't listen just too much.

ALSO, I DO fit the possible symptoms of:

Sensitivity to touch - may find clothing uncomfortable; and may find hair-brushing and cutting, teeth-brushing and nail-cutting unpleasant

Poor sense of direction

School Aged Children
Dyspraxia can make it difficult for children to develop social skills, and they may have trouble getting along with peers. Though they are intelligent, these children may seem immature and some may develop phobias and obsessive behavior.

BTW *******ANYONE******** could have problems with many SUVs! You should have sued. There is NO excuse for it rolling over.

My husband has this problem. He is from the LA/Pasadena area, in fact, and after living away for over 10 years, he went back for a business meeting. He was supposed to drive from LAX to somewhere in LA. He ended up in Pasadena before he realized what he had done. Just had the automatic pilot on.

KimJ,

My last boss gave me *****HORRIBLE***** directions. He would say like(REAL example folks), "half finished pink building in overland"! !! ! Well, I FINALLY found it! Color was the SAME as other buildings, NOT pink! It was FINISHED! It was NAMED overland plaza, but nowhere near anything named overland! Anyway, BEFORE this was found out, he said "You should learn to read a damn map!", or something of that sort!

I DID learn to read a map *******LONG AGO********! If that is not enough, I took a MAP READING class in military school(REQUIRED!)! I got a B+, as I recall. The APPROVED(by the US army) INSTRUCTOR was from the US ARMY!

So WHY didn't I use it????? I had NO reference, and find it HARD to read such a small map going 55 on the freeway anyway!

Maybe your husband has the same problem.

he has to have exact directions, like 3 blocks, turn right at X light, follow for 3 houses. Like most Californians, he doesn't know his north-south-east-west.
I actually don't like those kinds of directions. I like, go to Blah Street, go west for about a mile, look for Boo Blvd, go south, follow for about 1 1/2 miles. then look for 123 Sesame Place.

Well Kim, I know thousand oaks is west of encino which is west of sherman oaks, at least by the 101. But there IS a part of the freeway that goes north/south. I OFTEN end up almost cursing, and wishing I had a compass!! ! As for precise directions? Those are good, but I want NAMES to! In a lot of eastern states, they NUMBERED exits! Why didn't they do that in CA?!?!?!?

Anyway, Even CITIES didn't get together, so there may be several exits with the SAME number! BETTER know something ELSE, ALSO!

Well, I don't know about Southern CA but they finally did number the exits in Northern CA. Unfortunately that meant they changed the signs and thus, changed the names of the exits. Like we always got off the I-5 at Norman Rd exit, which goes to Princeton. But they changed it (I moved away and wasn't there for 10 years) and it's called something else with a number on it.
It made me second guess myself everytime and I would stay "safe" and drive to the next town.

I never liked taking the bus or the train.
During the times i take the train i'd be verry lucky to find a place to even stand.
A few times it was so full they had to leave people behind.
I got my car a few weeks ago.
So now i'm always driving to work.

It costs about the same as the public transport.

4,50 euro with a car for the drive wich is 20 kilometres back and forth.
4,70 euro for the train wich is almost the same distance.

It's proberbly ALOT cheaper in America as fuel costs like half of what it does here.

Oh, and don't forget to carry pepperspray because you'll need it to fend off some pervert on the bus staring at you.........while masturbating. (happened to me more times than I can count)

In America you at least have the right to defend yourself and to get the means to do so, unlike Europe.

It's not a human right to drive a car, but it's a human right to defend yourself. Ergo: Driving license needed to drive - yes. Gun license needed to obtain a gun - no.

Litigious,

ACTUALLY, the US is filled with LOTS of idiots, and MANY of them work in politics, or are in government!! !! !

You DO need a license to buy/own a gun! I actually bought a gun and needed a "permit". Still a LICENSE, in my book! I had to wait 15 days. A few months later, it became ILLEGAL to buy or sell such a gun! WHY???? TOO MANY BULLETS!

It was ALSO illegal to USE a gun! When transporting, it must be UNLOADED with the ammunition outside of it. In a car, the ammunition can be in the cab ONLY if the gun is NOT! It can be in the trunk ONLY if the gun is NOT!

If you shoot a criminal on your property, you can be SUED! SO, you REALLY have to have one really good shot if s/he is on your property.

As for the second amendment? They CLAIM that a comma makes it clear that is just for a MILITIA! TWO problems with that! ONE, every OTHER one LIMITED the governments rights! TWO, The constition DEMANDS the citizens have rights to redress, and that IS how the US was created.

BTW It is ILLEGAL to carry in many areas unless you are the police!

Did you know that probably for my ENTIRE life it has been a FELONY for a felon to own/carry/use a GUN!?!?!?!?!?!? So they are saying that FELONS don't follow the law!! !! !! WELL DUH!! !! !! ! So WHY do they pass these other laws? It must be to protect the guilty!

I'd rather walk than take a bus. I don't really get my "personal space" on a bus than when I walk.

Alternative,

That brings back memories! I remember once hearing that Americans wanted MORE personal space than anyone else! That was FINE with me! I got PLENTY! Frankly, I want this life to be like a DREAM(Where I don't have to feel a person so close I can feel them breath, feel that they are cold, etc...) and, as I recently told a coworker about the proximity of one guy to me at the time. I only want my wife, or women I am interested in to be THAT close.

The more I hear about it, the more I think people that started the US had aspergers! They wanted a lot of personal space, were smart, etc... Then again, NAW, they were too social. 8-( But HEY, it WAS an environment an autistic person could like. The self paced school, higher learning, and more respect were something an AS person could like. ALAS, that is not how it is now.

Which state do you live in? The laws are very different in different states. In Vermont, Montana and Alaska and some other states you don't need a license at all, neither to buy, nor to carry or use. Also, you have local laws in different cities and counties within each state. In Sweden we have one law for the whole country, even if it's interpreted a little different in different parts of the country. And Swedish gun laws have been harsh for over 70 years, while US gun laws have stiffened up just in the last few years.

In Texas anybody who is 18 can buy a rifle from a dealer if they are not a felony
legalily declared a nut or drug addict. 21 for handguns. Not sure if there is any law resistricting age of sales to those younger who buy from non-dealers.

A gun can be loaded on a gun rack in a truck. A gun not in veiw should be unloaded unless one has a concelaed weapons permit. Again you take a class and you can get one in Texas.

sure you can be sued if yoiu shoot someone. deadly force is used to prevent death or injury if you shoot someone to prevent them stealing your color tv your a criminal.

OK, but the Texan gun law is still 100 times better than the English or Swedish ones. In Montana there actually is no age limit for the purchase of the gun itself! It's only illegal to use a gun on your own if you're under 14. http://www.nraila.org/GunLaws/StateLaws.aspx?ST=MT

But as I said in the thread about gun laws in the Political forum: Guns should be totally free. In a democracy the people should always have the last word. But how could the people have the last word if there are regulations about guns? Then the government will always be able to oppress the people. The government should always fear the rage of the people, not the other way around. In a democracy, that is.
