I don't shave, even though I'm very hairy for a woman. Just don't understand why I should do it.

I never used to shave my underarms, until the hair got an odor in it that REFUSED to wash out, then I had to. Girls have it worse, they're expected to shave legs, armpits (in USA), and their crotches, especially if they have a sex partner (hopefully none of you 17 year old girls are having sex regularly quite yet). A man just has to shave his beard and for partially bald men their heads. Some shave armpits, and women are starting to demand that men shave their crotches. Some men do what is called "manscaping", which is shaving just the hairs circling the penis, and leaving the rest of the pubes alone.

I shave like my entire body. I am mostly Italian and I have really dark body hair. It is kind of gross but probably because that is what I have grown up being told. When I was in 8th grade I went to a new school and kids made fun of me because I had dark hair on my arms. I ended up bleaching it but it didn't look natural. It looked weird. So my mom helped me attempt to wax it and I ended up getting a huge bruise on my arm from too much wax I guess. I now shave my arms. I don't really like to because I have very sensitive skin and get razor bumps and stuff and it looks weird. Other than that I don't really mind. I don't mind shaving my legs. I usually don't shave them in the winter much anyway. I shave my crotch and this is what bothers me the most. I get infected hairs and stuff they are so painful. I have no idea what to do. I know that Sephora sells a couple different products that are supposed to help prevent that type of stuff but I am not so sure it will work for me. I have really really sensitive skin. My entire body is usually always itchy. Sorry I am ranting. There is really no one else to talk to at the moment about this.

Hahaha--this is funny b/c I don't shave at all.

But I don't shave b/c of my own weird ideas about it. I don't feel women are like poodles. I mean--we are mammals and all that, but not dogs. And it takes so much time for basically nothing--I mean, the hair just grows back. It's so futile.

But then, I am afraid of cutting myself on everything--when I look at anything sharp I feel it (in my imagination) cutting me. I could shave if I wanted, and I do for special occasions or people, but I do feel anxiety about sharp things in general. So I think I kind-of understand. I try to acknowledge that those are just my thoughts though--shaving really isn't very dangerous at all, and unless you have sensory issues that prevent you from feeling the slight pull and scrape of the razor then it probably won't bother you. But I find I am not motivated to shave.

I don't understand how some women can be without shaving/removing their body hair. It looks very disgusting, and feels like it too. When I see a hairy woman I feel like I'm going to puke..

Some women just aren't bothered by having hair. Some women have a lot of problems removing hair like with getting cut or ingrown hairs or spending so much time keeping it up. Some don't like the double standard that men can be as hairy as they want but somehow it's bad for a woman to have hair.

I quit shaving a years ago except I shave my armpits once in a while when it gets too long and trim down there a bit when it gets too long and I'm glad to not have to spend so much time and effort on something so pointless. I also would get lots of ingrown hairs and pick at them which is not good. It's not like anyone is going to see. I don't have sex or wear a bathing suit or tank tops or skirts and I rarely wear shorts although I might sometimes this year. I got some knee length men's shorts to wear this summer.

I definitely don't like shaving. I have really sensitive skin especially under my arms and my bikini area. I usually get small red bumps in these areas if they get too irritated. I shave though, especially in the summer or when I'm in a relationship.

Yup. Not because of sensory issues though. It's just a pain in the arse, so I almost always have two to seven days of growth.

This is my point of view on it... No sensory problems with shaving, but it's a big "necessary" waste of time. I think I look terrible with facial hair, so shaving is the lesser of evils. To make things worse, I have body hair, and being in the sport of bodybuilding, I have to shave all that too!! !

I HATE it. It is such a bother and a waste of my time. In winter I hardly shave my legs. In summer I do, because it gets too warm to wear pants to cover my legs. I don't know how much it costs for laser or whatever else is out there and I am sure it costs more than I can afford. Plus I am transgender, FTM, not transitioned and if I did transition then it would be OK for me to not shave, but I HATE HATE HATE the feeling of the hair on my legs. So I am kind of in a catch 22.

It also gets very itchy after a while. But you won't see the hair anyway - it's not as if they're walking around in vest tops and shorts.

I hate shaving. If I am not running, I won't shave. It's much easier for me to shave longer hair than it is short hair.

Uhg, I hate shaving and i'm a guy.

To avoid cutting myself I make sure the razor is soaked and I let the razor do the work and lightly pull it across my face WITH the grain.

I use an electric razor. I don't like or dislike it. It's merely a task necessary to upkeep one's appearance.

Cannot stand shaving anything more than I have to, luckily no one at work cares if I look like a mangy bear.

My facial skin hates it. I use an electric shaver, but I still have to be careful that I don't shave too rigorously. Otherwise, I will regret it a few days later...
I've never tried wet shaving, but I think a blade directly on the skin would peel it even more.

I don't like it either, but it has to be done. If I didn't, I'd end up looking like a stereotypical member of CAMRA and that would never do.
