Why do so many of you lack concision?

Me too. I'm reading The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde at the moment. The next books lined up are Pamela by Samuel Richardson and Dracula by Bram Stoker. It's a pleasure to meet another avid reader.

An avid reader who won't read more than 3 sentences  I thought you would be into more concise books like "see spot run".

You're hilarious, Rascal.

See....I CAN be concise...

That doesn't explain my just writing 14 pages of a 10 page paper requirement, but oh well. :P

Oh, boy - does that sound familiar! I always push word counts.

I will probably be up all night trying not to push the word count.

I'm obsessed with this paper; I can't set it down!

Fact: Writing short is harder than writing long :D

I can't read many of your posts. They ramble on. The education system has failed so many of you, alas!

Really?

I don't see why people would be amused at being called uneducated. I'm surprised this thread has continued for as long as it has. I find it your initial post hard to take seriously.

While I won't go as far as Rascal77 and be surprised there is no "See Spot Run" in this list, I am surprised there is no Ernest Hemingway on your list. He wrote in a spare style and plotted very tightly, no rambling. He is the opposite of the rambling Bram Stoker who took forever to advance the awesome plot of Dracula. I was really disappointed when I read Dracula because there was so much noodling on and on about the relationships. I sometimes wonder if Hemingway was deliberately rebelling against that style of writing.

I have trouble reading some of the more "rambling" posts, but that's my problem! I don't blame those who write more and I wouldn't be rude to or about them. I was told by one of my University tutors that my writing style is too conscise, to the point where my essays seemed "choppy".
