Jerks. If they had any compassion when they mistook you for gay, they'd assume you were closeted and respect that.

My guess is that we're so used to being different that it's easier for us to accept that we're different in yet one more way. With less social pressure to fit into gender norms, we may be more likely to head toward orientations that match our genetics. NTs on the borderline will get pushed toward cisgender heterosexual... autistics, not so strongly.
