I think that smart is thinking faster, deeper, broader, with more connections, from more perspectives.
It doesn't mean the smart person knows a lot or gets to the truth most of the time.
But if you come up with lots of ideas, then you may get to the truth a small percentage of the time.

^^Who was it aimed at then, because I'm confused?^^

It is not aimed at any single person.

Sometimes people with HFA or Aspergers have a overriding desire to fit in with the NT world my comment is aimed at people when they are in that frame of mind.

I have been in that frame of mind too not anymore. :)

That's me. I accept that NTs exist so I might as well learn to live with them. Sometimes I want to live like they do. Sometimes I even make the mistake of measuring myself by their standards. Their standards are fine for them.

People often confuse knowledge with intelligence, or the results of hard work with intelligence. Aspies are often just better read, or try harder.

I'm smart in the sense of kind memorize sets of information quicker than most people(not like rainman though). Maybe if a normal person needs to repeat it 7-8 times to really grasp it, I can do it like 3-4. I only know this from cramming for Chinese tests, by the 3rd repetition I was good and owned the character but other people needed way more time.

I think I can handle a pretty complex system as well. I'd say I have videogames more than aspergers to thank for that one though.

As far as common sense goes I'm pretty bad. I don't JUST do things. I don't feel like I can explain it any better than that. There is no JUST for me, I thrive in complexity, can't handle simplicity.

I think I am your opposite :) I think slowly, I re-hash decisions I've already made, and I need more repetitions to remember things.

But...I'm awesome at spotting incongruities. I make fewer mistakes than my peers. I find commonalities in things where most people don't find many, making my solutions simpler, more robust and more consistent. I'm good at figuring out what people really want. I'm more willing to start over with a better (in my mind, simpler) approach.

None of us fit into the NT world we need to all stick together.

Getting along with the NT world can be helped by recognizing our shortcomings, and recognizing the strengths of people not like us. Most of us are dumb at some things. NTs recognize that, and we often do not. Part of our dumbness is in giving them that advantage. They give us credit for the things we are good at, but we don't reciprocate. Mostly, we don't value the things they're good at, so we don't give them credit for being smart at all. They see this as a shortcoming.
