I chose the Average option, because according to an online reading/comprehension test, the speed at which I read, and the accuracy of comprehension, is average. But I think its a little bit faster than spoken word.

Intermediate test I scored 234 words per minute. Though I lost focus many times.

I got 221 on the Beginner. I know I'm a slow reader and my comprehension fades in and out, especially the more difficult the text becomes (for books like Harry Potter I'm at my optimal reading/comprehension speed but for a lot of my psych and neuro books I'm slower and take longer).

It's frustrating that I've got attentional reading problems when there's so many texts I'd love to pour through all at once. But I tend to have to break my reading into smaller parts so that I can keep comprehension at its maximum and also recover energy-wise since I find it takes a lot of energy to continually try to keep myself focused.

Pretty fast with light stuff. Some stuff needs to be gone over with a fine toothed comb though.

It depends on how tired I am. The faster I read the faster I wear out though. I can read at blinding speeds but it wears out after a few minutes.

Hmm...the stuff I read the fastest (light fiction - mainly sf) I find very relaxing. I would never try to push myself with this stuff though.

I can read in my head at uberspeed.
I always stumble over words when I read aloud, though. It's like my lips won't keep up with my brain.

Depends. I like to reread things and memorize the details, but I read quickly. I was always an above average reader. I have an adult reading age now, and I'm 16. I understand most words and phrases.

I'll buck the trend here - I read at an extremely slow speed. I read at the speed that I talk at, and even then I often go back a bit and re-read bits. I also, have to read absolutely every word. It makes me very, very slow at reading - I can't read an average book in anything less than a week.

My wife, however, can blast through a big novel in a day.
I can't see how she can absorb it all.

I can read super-speedy when I want to, but usually I like to take my time. Although according to spectators, even me taking my time seems fast to them 8)

I talk and read both, very slow. And when I talk, I can't just get to the point. I talk in pictures. When I need to talk about a house, I seem to feel the need to tell about every rock and dirt clod on the property first. I drive my poor docter nuts.

I'm not an avid reader (I don't read unless I'm really interested in a subject) but I can read faster than spoken word. I remember in class I was two pages ahead of the audiobook. (I liked the book).

I'd say I read quite fast, but then I have a tendancy to skim, well when it comes to fiction books. When it comes to non fiction books I's say I'm average to fast.

I used to be the same in English whenever we were reading a book aloud as a class I would be two to five pages ahead (depending on how slow a reader the person was) by the time it came to me I was always destracted and got in trouble frequently for not listening.

We used "popcorn reading" in elementary to middle school, which means people were randomly picked to read. People would even get picked when someone was reading in the middle of a sentence. It really annoyed me when we used that. I had to read at the speakers pace. Then when I was picked, I hated it because I would stumble on the words. Also speaking felt really annoying to me.

Same here, plus for me I'd already read ahead and wanted to continue.

I hated speaking outloud, but that was added to since I have a cleft palate, which is affected by the amount of spit I have in my mouth at the time, which is affcted by stress, which when I speak makes me more stressed, especially when I haven't prepared myself to say something.
