Can we get each poster's age back? It helps to know who to take seriously. I'm not interested in the musings of teenagers. I know they think they know it all, but come on, they're babies!

I hope that we don't get it back if it is to be used to ignore users and indulge prejudices such as yours. You are an ageist and your lack of respect for youngsters is small-minded, revolting, and evidence that you are guilty of that which you accuse teenagers: thinking that you know everything.

Please refrain from personal attacks. It's not helpful.

My philosophy on any website change: as long as I can get around it, I have no qualms.

I've seen plenty of website changes that make the website nearly useless.

For example, the latest version of http://www.weather.com makes the site nearly useless. It takes forever to load. Perhaps they assume that everyone always has the latest and greatest computer. Also, far too many websites require you to run Windoze to get much use out of the site.

eric,
I don't think there are many sites out there that require you to have windows .

And most sites use analytics packages to determine the percentage of users using newer platforms vs. older ones so decisions should not be based on assumptions. On WrongPlanet, for instance, the percentage of sessions from people with windows xp is close to zero.

What a stupid thing to stay. I don't stay away from teenie-boppers because of any prejudice. I used to be one.

Having been one doesn't prevent you from being prejudiced against them. You've stated in your own words that you wish to avoid their posts based on their ages, not what they post. That is an example of judging their posts before reading them, a pre-judgment in other words, and pre-judgments are the foundation of prejudice.

Nothing wrong with that. I certainly value the wisdom of a 70-year-old over that of a 17-year-old. Jeez, everybody's dying to be offended these days.

Now that I have acclimatized to it, I really like it. The feature that links threads to previous discussions on the same or related topics is very useful. It's faster, and the layout just seems normal to me now.

The threads need a button to take you to the first unread post. It's hard to figure out where you last left off on threads you've read before without it. :(

Seconded. :wtg:

I've known 17-year-olds who are wiser than many 70-year-olds.

The only thing worse than young ignorant people...is old ignorant people.
